I did the BG swap on my 15. You won't feel anything on the differential, that's just for security measures. But on the MT82 the trans fluid made a big difference in notchiness.
Thx Ryan, but i'm more interested in how the shifter behaves with Synchroshift fluid, unless you meant both differential and tranny !

I had a problem getting into 4th today. Was doing a hard pull up the interstate, didn't go into 4th completely, and rode it out for a few seconds with the clutch in to avoid grinding gears.
Ryan, it must be the cold front in Florida we are currently experiencing

Yes I'm talking about the shifter. The syncroshift fluid made a big difference in th e smoothness of my shifter.

So worth switching to synchroshift II in the GT350 then.

Yes I had my transmission replaced due to 4th gear synchro going out. Ford sent a new transmission and the whole job was less than 5 days. Ford knew it was an issue.

No it was not my fault, I've had 2 mt82s with no issues so I'm not new to being careful with these transmissions.

So, just got home from a 400mls drive and must say it seems to shift smoother, also in 4th. Especially downshifting from 5 to 4, may require a jank. The throws are short (great!) and you really have to push/pull to get in the gears, but guess that's by design.

Perhaps will try other fluid as well. Thanks!

It does get smoother over time (or I got used to it). The MT-82 in my 2015 GT was a really awesome shifting transmission with a very nice short throw, and initially the Tremec box did not impress me. After 11 months I really like the Tremec.

Mine tends to crunch a little going into 5th, if anything. The rest of the gears shift nice and easy almost all the time.

I have that same thing with 5th, seems to take a bit of extra oomph. Thought it was just me.

Just food for thought. I notice mine is a little more notchy when tooling around town but at higher RPMs, it seems happy. These trans are likely synchronized at a slightly higher RPM than most of us are accustomed to. Try to ride each gear a little higher and then dont waste a bunch of time with a granny shift (don't allow the RPMs to drop all the way down between shifts) and see how that does for you.

Could be good advice, as everyone's shift speed is different. I found I had to slow down my shifts to accommodate the Tremec box.

Peter, please report back on how/if the synchroshift II fluid changes anything in the way the shifter behaves.

Thx
Hi all,
Here are my first impressions since my transmission fluid was changed about two weeks ago. This week is really the first week as I was travelling right after they did the change.

I clearly feel the difference when the car is cold, it is extremely smooth now compared to a rather "notchy" feeling before. Once the engine and transmission are at temperature the difference is less pronounced I would say. But overall I do have the feeling that this is better then the original fluid the car came with. Just to note that the rear axle wasn't changed because the workshop did not have an updated scan tool for the GT350.
This will be done later.
Best
Peter

interesting thread. didn't see this before i made my post a few days ago as well. i also experienced some issues getting into 4th, and only at high RPMs. feels like i have to actually concentrate on going from 3rd to 4th with a lot of effort, otherwise i can't get it in.

Peter,

I'm happy you finally had time to drive your car (rather than sitting on an airplane) after the BG Syncro Shift change. We appreciate the feedback. Long term it will offer much more protection over the Automatic Transmission fluid that Ford uses.

Mike assured us that they will do everything to take care of you on the rear axle fluid swap. We apologize that you had to be the one to find out Snap-On did not have the Shelby Specific PID's in their latest software update.
