Differential sensor on 2016 (pic)

Hello,

Today me and a friend with a 2015 were looking at the exhausts under our cars and noticed that mine (2016) had a sensor/cable coming out of the differential (looking at it from the back)... Does anyone know what this sensor is? Is this a 2016 thing? or just some cars have it and some dont?

Both vehicles are GT PP with the TORSEN differentials.

Any info is appreciated, thanks.

Can you pull up "differential temp" on your guages? Looks like a temp sensor to me. I know the GT350's have diff and trans temp available in the center electronic gauge.

Nop, there was no diff temp at all... I think it could possibly be on a locked menu that I cant see because I dont have a GT350

On some Corvettes diff and trans temps were only available if they got too hot. A warning would come up in the DIC and you could click a button to show the temp. You have RTFM, right?;)

The workshop manual calls it a Temp sensor, picture looks to be for Shelby, has the cooling lines, but the sensor is in the same place.

Work at a dealership, enter VIN in OASIS and click workshop manual tab. I believe they also sell them to the public, I think Helminc.com is where to go, but they used to be terribly expensive.

2015 GT and an 06 XKR- nice. Your thoughts on the differences? Pros and cons? I love the 03-06 XK's.

Axle Temperature sending unit: Ford part No: 9L8Z-6G004-E (This same part is also used in many other places, i.e. coolant temp sender)
Pigtail: Motorcraft Part No: WPT 984
