I had the Rok Blokz front flaps originally , then added my Wheel opening moldings and couldn't really
decide on how to proceed . I wanted to keep a clean look and almost went with the ZL1 setup and although
it looks nice I was looking for "less blocked out" if that makes any sense , so this was my solution and I'm
pretty happy with it ...

I almost went with the super clean look and not use flaps at all , but then I came to my senses , I had a GT350 and the rear quarters were sandblasted to shit in the 25,000 miles I drove it .

I like this idea and was thinking of doing the same. I have a non-HP with Rokblokz on it now. I just got the lip moldings and need to install them together.

What did you use for the material for that shim?

I actually did the same setup as OP did on my HP Mach 1. This is the material I used to make the shim: https://www.amazon.com/Expanded-Pri...rmat+pvc+shet,office-products,118&sr=1-3&th=1

For a transferrable template, I took some blue painters tape and covered the section for the shim on the car with a set of vertical strips and then a set of overlapping horizontal strips. This allowed the top layer to stay totally intact when I peeled and lifted the lower tape layer. I took a sharpie and traced the outline and where the two holes were. Then I lifted the template off and put it onto the plastic sheet, cut everything with a bandsaw and drilled the holes with a drill. Some minor sanding was required to get everything smoothed and clean.

If you do decide to use the Rokblokz with the spacer, you'll need longer mounting screws for the Rokblokz flap. These are the ones I used: https://www.mcmaster.com/90198A729/

Side note: I had to redo my lip moldings after a couple thousand miles because they were starting to come off and allowing small rocks to get in the tops of them. Be absolutely certain before you apply the moldings to the car to clean the surface extremely well, then use the actual 3m adhesive promoters that are included; not just rubbing alcohol like I first did. It is a somewhat long and tedious process to clean off the VHB tape and reapply it to the moldings (ask me how I know ). Luckily after the 2nd application, they are holding up much better this go-'round.

Thanks @Mach1Kid96 for the thorough reply. I was wondering if I would need longer screws, but had not gotten to taking out and measuring yet.

I was looking at some ABS plastic sheets, but it's more expensive than the material you used. Would that cut easily or is a saw required? I don't have a bandsaw, but jigsaw, router and others.

Was sanding for cosmetic purposes? It seems like there should only be one thin edge visible after it is mounted.

Of course! No problem - happy to help!

Yes, the material I used that I purchased from Amazon was extremely easy to cut. A band saw is absolutely not required; a jigsaw, dremel, router, etc. will cut it extremely easily.

As for sanding, that was just for cosmetic purposes on my part. Even though nobody else can see it, I know it's there, so I just cleaned up the edges a bit. Nevertheless you are 100% correct, it's just a thin slice that is visible when it's all mounted. It's hardly noticeable.

Holler if you have more questions! :like:

Why not just put PPF on the rear quarters?

Honestly, I like the look of the front flaps on my car, and they're easy to remove. They lower the "rocks-hitting-the-side-of-the-car" noise a lot too.

PPF is a super viable option too, though. Definitely something worth looking into. :like:
