I’m on my second GT. My first one was a 19 301a w 3.15 gears. It had wheel hop. As far as I knew, it was stock (until I added a few small things). My current one is an 18 400a with 3.55 gears. Both 10 speeds.

My current one is objectively faster, assuming the gauge reads equally for 0-60 testing. The 19 I never did get below 5.3 I think it was. My current best is a 4.7. Both used all seasons, so I don’t expect the fastest. Never had wheel hop on the 18 though.

Just curious if others had the same experience or an explanation as to why. I would expect the quicker one to have wheel hop. Thanks for any input!

these cars need the following to fix wheel hop:

1. some kind of cradle lockout, this gets you halfway there

2. some kind of differential bushing reinforcement to keep the pumpkin form twisting when you launch. If you don't install the front inserts you can avoid most of the added NVH this mod is known for as those inserts straddle the pinion bearings which is where cruising whine comes from.

3. better shocks in the rear. I did steeda pro adjustable shocks.

I've done other stuff to the car but I believe these are the things which actually eliminated wheel hop almost entirely.

I do not have vertical links and I do not have a single bit of wheel hop.
