Deep Sleep Mode

So with the onset of cold weather I made the sad decision to park the mustang about 2 weeks ago. Was able to squeeze her into the garage, put a cover on her and figured it was set. I get a push notification from the ford app saying the mustang was placed in "deep sleep mode". Was not alarmed by this as it had been about 2 weeks parked. After browsing the forum I decided it was a good idea to put the car on a charger so I got one from Amazon. I went to install the thing and the battery was dead. So I had to jump the car and go for a quick drive before wrapping up the charger install. So for anyone else, Deep sleep mode is ford speak for your battery just died lol. Is it unusual for it to have discharged so quickly? I could understand a month or so but a couple weeks?

I don't believe this is the case. I took my car to service and left it for a couple of days. The weather was not cold or anything and it just went into deep sleep mode. I got the notification on the FordPass app. It was there for a week or two and occasionally sent the notification. My car was not really checked on (thanks ford!) and was essentially neglected when I checked dashcam footage and the car started up fine when they did get to it. Again I don't know, just my experience.

Seems like your battery went under 9.5 volts.

Deep Sleep Mode is designed to conserve battery power on your vehicle. This setting is activated when your vehicle falls under the following conditions. Vehicle inactivity for14 consecutive days. The battery voltage drops below 9.5 volts.

That's good info! My car was not there for 14 days, but why would my battery drop below 9.5V. The car was just sitting there like it does at my house, but I never get the notification when it's parked at my house even for 2 days. I was actually startled when I got the message because I thought my battery was drained also!

9.5 volts on a battery that isn’t under load doesn’t make sense, that’s over 100% discharged / completely flat / most likely unrecoverable without permanent loss of performance ... ?

I suspect ford has messed up with that number, maybe it’s a typo on their behalf ?

Battery kicked it. You will need a new one most likely.

Cold weather is good at separating good batteries from factory bad batteries.

Will keep eye on it this winter and get it looked at when it comes out to play again.

For Thanksgiving, I went out of town for 9 days and my car was parked in my garage in Texas. After 3 days on vacation, I checked via the Ford App and it said my car was in deep sleep. Got home and started her up with no problems.

Same with me. Leaving at airport for two weeks several times. Always deep sleep. But always started right up. I also made sure I left my alarm to perimeter only not all alarms... Im sure motion would have killed the battery by then.

That is an interesting point, i didn't change the alarm settings.

All you have to do is disconnect the negative cable.

mine sits in heated underground storage, cant plug in a charger. got a notification about deep sleep a day after running my car for a few minutes, and also a nitrification a few minutes after i ran it. i used my obd2 scanner to check the voltage before i started it and it was somewhere above 11V but it showed the conserve battery message on the sync display

The battary tender seems to be doing the job. Maybe ill get some all seasons next year I miss my car lol
