Oh that's a NICE purple on the Challenger! If only the boys at Dodge would put those Hemis in a smaller car. *sigh*

I think the only people that don't like the PP wheels are because it brings back horrible memories of getting their horse drawn carriages with only one option; dark stained, wooden spoked, wagon wheels!

I give it 12 months until everyone thinks there BA driving around on Torque Thrusts... :barf:

To me it seems like black wheels are the "in" thing now. It's just like how my parents hate my taste in music and I will probably hate my kids taste in music. So in 20 years when all cars come with orange and green color changing disco wheels, I will probably say "Damn kids, why cant you just like black wheels like everybody else?"

I hear what you're saying but I like to think I'm pretty open minded. I honestly don't care about trends or not trends, or generational gaps or whatever. I am just giving these wheels the eye test, and they fail, badly. They look dull and dark and horrible. In the perfect lighting they might look kinda neat, but in just too many pictures so far they look bad and take away from the car, imo. To be fair havent seen them in person yet, but judging from the few examples of black wheels I've seen out in the real world I don't care for them.

The 50th appearance/LE wheels are bright and vibrant and make this car look awesome, imo.

For the record I'm generally only a fan of chrome on classic cars, with few exceptions.

Black wheels look amazing on race red with black vents/spoiler/stripes....Might look good on silver too, but that's about it for me, personally. I'm not much of a fan overall.

I dare someone to tell me those black PP wheels in this pic look anything better than dogsh!t
I personally agree but to each their own....I wont buy DIB for this very reason. Im not a fan of chrome but the following looks amazing. If I was willing to pony up coin for wheels and tires day one I would go with DIB...Its an amazing color with the correct wheels..

I think that color works well on a square-ish car like the challenger. But if it was up to me, I'd chose a much deeper, darker purple for the S-550.
I agree, I'd like a dark purple, not so dark that it can be confused with black something like BMW's Techno Violet.

I'm not a fan of the black wheels either overall, but I expect, just like the car itself, the wheels will look much better in person than in the photos. So with that in mind, if I do go forward with a GT purchase, I'm going to reserve judgement until I see it. If I'm not happy with it, I'll either spend a few hundred bucks to get them refinished, or I'll sell them and buy some reasonably priced aftermarket wheels.

Bottom line is, I'm not going to let something that costs a few hundred dollars to change dictate the overall color I choose for the car. That's just silly IMO.

No Argument from me. I think everyone here knows my Disdain for Black Wheels, and this picture just reinforces my feelings about them. It completely Ruins the Look of the car in my opinion. All I can think of are Cheap Ass Steel Wheels that someone stole the Hubcaps off of, or that someone took the Hubcaps off thinking it would make their car look cool. The only thing that could be worse, is if Ford actually gave us Cheap Black Painted Steel Wheels with Trim Rings like Chevy did for the Camaro... :barf:

Nope, that's a great color for me. I had one custom painted purple Mustang in my past and I loved it. I'd give anything to have that thing back. 1988 LX Hatch, purple with blue metallic flake.
