I agree... GT is def more power and blah blah... but even i have ecoboost premium and this car has ample power .... rather lil more... and trsut me m comparing the feel factor with my jag f type R... its 500+ super charged... yet i ejoy almost sam efun drivin my ecoboost too
There's always more power. Whats gonna happen when the GT 350 comes out? Why doesn't the OP just find a used Vette that'll lay a beating down on the GT?

These people that get hung up on HP only amuse me to no end.

Ok, after being in a hum-drum sedan for the last 7 years, I have decided to get something sporty with more than 160 horsepower. Now my family budget allows me up to 30-32K. My options that I have narrowed down to are:

2015 Ecoboost Premium Coupe or 2011-2013 GT Vert.

I know it comes down to my personal preference but I'm looking for any and all pro's and con's to each.
I would get the EB Premium in your situation. It is hands down just a nicer car and you will be the first owner of the car. Any 2011-2013 Vert will have been in the hands of someone else so you are a little bit at the mercy of how they treated that car. I am a firm believer in buying new vs used whenever possible (and of course situation dependent). Coming from a sedan you are going to be in love with the EB I think. I am saying that and I am a future and past Vert owner and lover. Orrrrrr... You could get on X-Plan and get a EB Premium Convertible for just a little more (plus Tax and title) :D Everybody always wants to spend your money on forums don't they? hahaha

Of those choices, I'd get the 2015 EcoBoost. Not only is it a much nicer car overall, but there's no way I'd buy a used GT. Ever.

I also don't agree with the anti-EB comments. I drove one while waiting for my GT to arrive and thought it was plenty of fun. I'd personally miss the extra power of the 5.0 and its lovely V8 growl, but not everyone needs those things to enjoy their car.

Last but not least, opinions from the Internet are worth exactly what you paid for them. Go drive the EB and see for yourself if it meets your expectations.

The ecoboost was what I was leaning more towards. The wife through out the how about a low mileage GT convertible idea and then I got to thinking(over thinking) about it.

With a tune and free flowing exhaust I think I will have fun in this car. I used to have a 2005 SRT4 with stage 1 toys and I thought that was fun to drive around, so this should really be a blast. And thank you to everyone that voted and I appreciate everyone taking the time to comment also!

I'm in the minority, and this is not the best forum to get balance on the 2011-13 Mustangs. However, I have 2 2012's, one of which I was considering trading for a 2015 EB. I haven't driven one yet, but drove the '15 GT PP.

You should only decide after you've driven your two candidate cars, preferably in the same day. People who prefer the last gen Mustang say the current gen is too cushy. This who prefer the current gen, say the last gen is too unrefined.

The last-gen vert is probably the most composed (I don't mean best-handling) of the S197's, so it should be a decent comparison.

A lot of these opinions aren't even what OP is asking. Many people value comfort over power. The EB is still a lot of fun, even if it's not the same experience as the GT. Personally, I'd go with Premium EB over Base GT for a DD. For a weekend only car, I'd be more inclined to go with a Base GT. Either way, I'd rate the 2015 far above the previous generation.

That said, the interior, exterior, and ride quality are going to be far superior on the 2015 EB versus 2011-2014 GT. If you test drove both and you don't plan on making this a drag car (considering a vert, so I'm assuming not), it's a no-brainer. I was considering a heavily discounted 2014 myself, until I test drove the 2015. For me, I love the refined feel of the car. The interior is leaps above the previous model, and side by side with a 2014 the exterior looks quite dated too.

What you'll find is that once you've decided on the 2015, you'll most likely also test drive the 2015 GT... Then your decision is much more difficult. :)

From your two choices, the Ecoboost. Trade it in in a few years for a GT, which you will eventually lust after, assuming you like the Mustang experience. Personally, though, I wouldn't want a Mustang without the Performance Package (even that I'm modding). I got my Premium GT PP with 401 package, Premier trim, Ruby Red Paint upgrade, and Nav, via XPlan and incentives, for $38.4K. Ecoboosts run about $7K less, so around $32K.

Awesome! I'm sure the Ecoboost will make you very happy. They can be very fun when you want them to be, and then they're amazing on gas when you're just cruising around.

An everyday commuter car used? Sure. A Mustang GT falls into a group, I wouldn't buy used. Unless I knew firsthand the guy selling it. Just my two cents. Like other have said a base GT pretty close to price limits would be real nice too. Good luck, either way.

Y u no 11-14 GT Premium with BBP or TP? 25k all day long with warranty remaining. Extended powertrain warranty to 100k miles easily under 1600 bucks. As for a 15, base GT + PP is by far the best value. Only go EB if you care more for the interior than the difference in feel - JMHO.
