B&O is a name from a far distant past that made some good stuff like turntables. OP- 320 is still compressed lossy files. . Rip some CD’s onto a USB stick do try that. I have the stock stereo in my 18 GT and it’s ok. Sounds better than my Sony equipped Escape.
This is so true. The source file makes a huge difference much more so than enabling or disabling the center speaker.....at least to my ears. Using an actual CD the music sounds great....also the new Amazon HD made a pretty significant difference for streaming.

wav file...

Not sure about B & O head unit and it's power, but I am sure the speakers themselves are not much of a difference. I haven't really looked, but almost every factory speaker is pisspoor, and nearly any aftermarket replacement will have better tone, etc.

B&O audio system in Mustang is very analytic. It will emphasize the (non-)quality of the source.
Play some low-quality mp3 music sampled at 128kbps (or less) and you will get terrible result.
On the other hand, try good CD or loosless coded music and you will be surprised.

Just for test - throw in generously sampled "Never Mind" from album Army of Mushrooms, played by Infected Mushroom and tell us, what are your impressions.

Popped in a CD tonight, sitting the garage, top down, Massive Attack - Mezzanine, was actually pretty impressed.

I've got a GT Convertible, so most of the time, it's not the best listening environment :)

I want my money back on the Heated/Cooled seats which are really Heated/Heated seats...
I bought this car for 2 reasons only...upgrade to GT from V-6 and cooled seats. It’s a 50% failure.

On the subject of music, I have the standard GT premium stereo. It’s fine for an older guy like me, My days of wiring sub’s and amps was in the early 80’s!

Ford is one of the worst car manufacturers when it comes to audio quality. Ive heard many different systems. From base toyotas and hondas, nissans and bmws and mercedes. Ford is always the worst. I listened to the new F150 B and O and it was absolutely terrible. The base systems from bmw and toyota rav4 that i heard were better. In my new 2019 f150 302a i have the base system. Its a bit better than the base system my 2015 GT had but they both still suck. I disconnected the center speaker because a center speaker for music is a joke and a fad that I hope will go away. Even with full cd quality its unlistenable. I had to turn the bass down by about 4 notches to get rid of the insane midbass peak. I even have siriusxm that came with the truck and I never use it. I basically just listen to talk radio on all my drives. What would really fix the factory audio is an external sound processor and amp. They need some serious eq. Oh and turning things on like "surround" mode in cars is the worst thing you can do. Its like getting a new home receiver and setting it to "sci fi" to ruin all your sound.

The B&O system in all Fords is a pile of dog crap. It’s not really even B&O. They’re the same garbage speakers Ford puts in everything. The B&O amp is much smaller than the old Sony amp and makes way less power. All B&O does is tune the dsp settings. These are the stock speakers from my 80k 2019 F250 with B&O. $30 speakers from Walmart are higher quality. The truck had a lot more bass with just aftermarket door speakers with the factory sub removed!

The B&O so called premium system pissed me off so much I did this with the logo after installing all aftermarket components. Lol

B&O was famous for their Danish Scandinavian design probably more so than any item I can think of.

I guess at the end of the day what I am saying is. It's not a "bad" stereo by any means. But compared to what others even the basic Fords offer for "free" as in not a premium charge. This system is a let down at 895. I changed my taillights out and to do that I had to remove the subwoofer. The tail light literally weighed more than the entire subwoofer assembly. I did not look but must be one cheap lightweight speaker in that box. Anything much above 15 volume and the sub starts to give up. I curious if it is a crap sub or if doesnt get the right power. Anyone know if there is a speaker replacement that does better without having to change wires and add amps and all that.
Dude I must be old, I don't turn mine up past 10. However i normally drive with my windows closed.

I picked up my SiriusXM again and changed from driver to surround and its much better. I know people say the Sirius is garbage, but it sounds better then our local "HD Radio" stations. Ive kept it off driver and to surround and haven't changed since. I did buy the center speaker off someone that was selling the second of the pair he got, a Polk so ill see if thats any better

I upgraded my stereo with a xpipe pretty quickly. Very pleased but my neighbors not so much.

I have to say that after I switched to "Surround", did some more fine tuning, and used a better source that the sound was pretty good (not audiophile quality). The center speaker doesn't work on Surround function as far as I can tell.
Played the CD of The Electric Prunes/ "I had too much to dream last night" and the sound quality and separation was nice.
