Yeh I don't get the why buy a Mustang if you're not going to drive fast argument. Same with Camaro, Ferrari, Lambo, McLaren, etc etc. You would have hundreds of idiots going 90-100+ in fatal crashed. But you dont- because people don't want to mess up their nice cars or get $200-300 speeding tickets and pints that raise your insurance rates, that's why.

There is a time and a place for speed. And if you're that worried about DRLs getting you caught, then its not the right time or place to use that speed. Where are you all in such rushes to go? I enjoy my time in the new car, not speeding to my destination as fast as possible.

The "because everyone else is going that fast" argument does NOT work well; believe that much. The speed limits exist for a reason, not because the person or car can/cannot handle it, but because the stopping distances needed based on traffic patterns. You hit bumper to bumper suddenly going 100 its a LOT harder to stop than at 65-70; stopping distances vs speed are proven fact. Dont pretend you know (or "such a good driver") better than science/forces do. You will just be the next wrecked S550 on the main forum section waiting months to be repaired and dealing with insurance and police. Is that all worth going those extra 10-20mph to feel that you are "now using your sports car?"

So true .. bro so true....DIdn we see so many people wrecked mustangs recently just because they thought they can drive fast...

Everything has a place.. u really wanna show off ur driving skills , go to a race track and boom, do anything.. wht the hell people wanna drive so fast on highways, get cop attention or are worried about and also put other people's life at stake.

Noone gave u a right to be notorious or speedster on public roads just because u have a mustang or any freaking sports car. As i always say , "YOUR FREEDOM ENDS WHERE MY NOSE BEGINS"

Because racing down the road in any sports car at 20+ over, DRLs or not, isn't going to draw police attention. ;)

Well OP's logic doesn't make sense. If you see a bright a** red/yellow/orange/etc Ferrari/C7/McLaren/etc. coming down the road at a very high rate of speed do you notice it more or less if it has daytime running lights or not?

I mean cmon. The tiny DRLs are not going to make a cop looking for speeders notice you any less or more in a new sports car. The logic makes no sense. If it's sunny out, like 75% of the days in FL, you wont notice DRL to begin with. If it's cloudy/dark/dim or raining, like the other 25% of days, headlights are required by law anyway.

The S550 isn't exactly and inconspicuous car and there aren't 50,000 on the road where it would blend in (say like a white/black Audi A4 for example where there are thousands of those down in South FL). I've only seen maybe 10 total on the road, and it's obvious when you see one.

Yeaa.... thats wat but the logic placed was .. DRL make it pronounce and god knows wat...

DRLs are good for some purposes and add a look to car..

and one person says i don my car flashy n catchy blah blah....then buy a mini van .. put big engine inside .. change it.. Y buy a mustang

I just think it's bad logic that a cop will see or not see you based on DRLs in a new sports car if you're speeding. More likely they gun will get your speed before the cop notices the DRLs and associates it with a Mustang.

There are also thousands of other cars on the road with DLRs in the headlamps so its not like the S550 is the only car with them.

But hey, its not my wallet to pay the ticket or license to lose so oh well

Modern VW DRLs turn off if the parking brake is on. Wish the Mustang did the same.

blah blah? minivans? Is that the best you can do to discredit my reasons for buying my Mustang?

"not flashy" . . . yeah, that was me, in the other thread talking about me not wanting my own cars to be flashy. Any of them. I could explain why I bought my current Mustang, which would remain very much the same should I buy a S550 in the next year or two. But it's pretty obvious that you still wouldn't get it. So I guess we're just going to have to agree to disagree on the value of visual embellishments. Take my share of them while you're at it.

But I will make you an offer. I'm going to try to get in a track day at Thompson Speedway's road course sometime this year. If the track allows it (and you promise not to get car-sick) I'll make you a standing offer of a full session hot-lap ride-along. Then you might begin to get an idea why I bought mine.

Since most (new) cars have DLRs, I wouldn't really call having them "flashy". Were DLRs unique to this Mustang, then I'd call it flashy. As it is, they're really just a sharp accent that pays homage to the early generation of Mustang. I give Ford credit for being able to make this new lighting direction in a complimentary fashion. I've seen many new cars that have obnoxious DLRs that don't compliment the car or have any historical tie-ins. Job well done, Ford.

As for turning on and off... eh... They're called "running" lights for a reason.

JFC. Some of you guys really need to take your Premarin.

FWIW, I have my headlights on whenever I'm driving. Rain or shine. I want other drivers to see me and avoid hitting me. If the DRLs help with that I'm all for it. Besides, they look pretty cool.

thats wat m saying brother... test all ur skills in track and i am not denying u r some fantastic racer...but givin an excuse the DLRs should be turned off so that speed on highways shows how irresposible ur driving is on streets.

There is difference being a good driver and a responsible one
