Specifically, front and rear view, and will start to record if the vehicle is parked and being tampered with (such as someone swinging a tireiron at the driver and rear windows, or pulling door handles)

Any recommendations? Would like to get it done while in the shop and they have trim and stuff pulled.

I have the VIOFO A129 on both mine and my wife’s car and they work great. Easy to install, setup, and download videos off of.

any way they can upload to the cloud? really concerned with having video in the event of a weekend repeat. and if it is only saved locally nothing is stopping them from just taking it.

No cloud connectivity, it’s all stored locally.

I have the Fitcamx. I like it because it's minimal with no wires and looks OEM. The picture quality is great and the unit isnt pricey. It also has a quick picture function that is pretty handy when you want a license plate. Just push the button on the side. And yes, it automatically starts recording if something hits the vehicle while parked.

Downside is you can't review the video or pics remotely. You have to connect to the unit inside the car with your phone and download files.

Just ordered a Viofo A229, has 4K front and 2k rear recording. Stored locally. Not aware of any cloud stored while car is off. Not sure how that would work.

I’ve been using Rexing but they are kind of on the larger side, I just bought a Rexing 4 channel so I could have side view cameras as well only problem with this set up is it’s a mirror mount but the view is larger and you can see all 1, 2, 3 ,4 views or none. I also bought a RedTiger which is a lot smaller then the windscreen mount Rexing. Whichever you decide on make sure it a supper capacitor as the battery types the batteries have a tendency to swell up from heat We have a convertible so I wanted a water resident rear camera which limited my choice,

Note as far as I remember parking mode requires unswitch, continous on power. Most camars sell some include this power supply

I have Viofo A139 Pro and my observations are:

1) It has parking mode recording, which can be triggered either by a recorded motion (not really usable in public places) or a shock. However the shock will start the recording so you may miss easily the actual cause.

2) It can also record continuously in parking mode (with some battery saving mode i.e. low FPS), the picture is not that bad, but you get everything recorded and probably drain your battery (or hit the voltage limit) in several hours. So for some serious usage you probably would need an auxiliary power source.

3) If you think about turning the parking recording only in public places (and have it off at home) then you will soon realize (at least on A139 Pro) that turning the parking mode recording on or off becomes inconvenient pretty fast.

4) The easiest "download" is having two SD cards and swap them. You can download the content, but good luck at downloading 256 GB of videos to phone over wifi.

Avoid the Viofo A229 Pro 4k front and 2k rear with your life. Mine continuously after a night of being parked will shut off and just start flashing the red light on the far left. No idea why, tried multiple online solutions, wiping the card, getting a new different sized card (yes the proper type), and no dice. Any suggestions are welcome, it is hard wired in and was working fine for the first three months.

@Prodigal hope you see this in time to cancel your order

Fitcamx is the most OEM looking solution if that matters.

Viofo 229 PRO is the best thing at the moment.
Upcomming is a second front cam for it, with a zoom lense – called telephoto – for even better licence plate reading (but without it is still best, especially with bad lighting.)

Fitcamx is a nice concept but unfortunately has not good cam hardware...

@CobaltFilly Check for firmware updates or get in touch with Viofo!
My A229 PRO with rear cam works perfect.
