the new mini 0806 is looking good. Has all the features mentioned. Ultra high def and I love that it has dual microSD with the highest capacity that I've seen at 128GB.

Why don't you get a two channel dash cam? At least its helpful in parking mode if someone hits u from behind.

i think the back tint is too dark to he effective other than sunny days.

BTW i don't have the mini 0806. I was just making a suggestion for the group.

also, what does 2 channel give over adding a second unit?

that $13 dollars one had me at.....oh....idk, $13
Same here, just got one. For $13 who cares? If that saves me ANY money on my insurance it just paid for itself right there. Plus the video is pretty clear, seams almost about as clear as the real (name-brand super-duper expensive) DriveCam. Nothing is scarier than your boss showing you driving after you set it off. :headbonk:

The minimum specs you're looking for are:
- WDR night vision (not all are created equal though, so look at sample video)
- Auto start/stop
- Capacitor preferred (battery ok for up north, not good in the heat)
- As wide angle as possible (greater than 110 degree)
- Loop recording

Nice to have but not necessary:
- LCD
- AVI or MP4 capable
- 18 Mbps data rate (this produces a much cleaner smoother video)
- Time and date stamp

Specs beyond these get you into the expensive cameras (above $150) and not really worth it in my opinion.

Here's a link that compare all cameras. I prefer the Mobius, but the G1W is hard to beat for $55 on Amazon.

I have 15% all around tint, the rear camera views the back fine.

2 Channel means 2 cameras, front and rear.

Great write up on dash cams

http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-dash-cam/

getting the g1w-c myself
Yes great article. The G1W-C is nice but too large for my taste. I'm fairly tech savvy so the Mobius interface doesn't bother me, and it's super small tucked up behind the mirror. I may do what they recommended and mount it even higher behind my mirror with the double stick tape.

This video got me $600 from the construction crew that tossed the 2x4 at me.

Well where is the video? What damage did the 2x4 do to your car/
