Going to fit a F&R dash cam system and have narrowed it down to 2 brands..:)

We've got the Blackvue DR650S-2CH.... which is the one I'm leaning towards due to preferring the design:thumbsup:

Or

Thinkware F779 2CH which appears to offer more features, most of which I'm not that bothered about ie lane departure, and collision warnings etc..

So without starting a war, has anyone got either of these 2 dashcams? And if so, waddya recon??:D

You may have already seen our thread, @Enoch , but there are plenty of opinions/videos/screen captures of many cams that may interest you within.

I have the Thinkware F770 front/rear/hardwired (came from an eBay seller in the UK, funnily enough) and it's exceeded my expectations.

Has been thoroughly reliable and produces highly usable video.

I also added polarising filters to the front and rear cams which assisted with reflection reduction greatly.

Oh, and yeah......these 'features' are a pain in the arse which thankfully can be easily disabled along with the monotonous speed/red light camera warnings.

So I presume you can update the camera with the latest 'safety' cameras?

Does this involve taking your camera to your computer?

Cheers

No - you can update it by adding the files to the sd card for the camera

I have the F770 hardwired - first thing I did was disable the lane departure warnings. Don't actually use the speed camera warnings either TBH - just use it for the cameras front and rear.

For my similar F750 I did have my warnings switched off but following a firmware update they all enabled and I can't be bothered to connect my phone and turn them off. I find that I quite like lane departure and collision warning and now I have 4 safety camera warning sources chirping at me - no bad thing.

I have just had the Blackvue fitted by local Halfords, the fitter did a very good job of hard wiring it. Still playing with it but looks fine so far.

Nice one:thumbsup:... couple of questions:)

Did you have to buy the "power magic pro"?
And
What was the total cost?

Thanks

I just ordered it on their web site, around £329 plus £30 for the fitting. You can get it a little cheaper on the interweb but then you have the hassle of getting it fitted.

That is for the two channels version, probably not too useful in the convertible with the roof up but I reckoned it was better to do it all at once. It turns on and off with the ignition, I could not be arsed to mess around with the parking options.

The fitter had already done a Mustang a couple of weeks ago so he was able to do mine more easily.

You guys got any advice on a hardwired dash cam, front facing for a fleet of vans?

I would like to looking at installing dash cams in our vans. We have about 15 but I may roll it out into the cars as well.

Reason I want them is to stop some of our drivers driving like idiots, evidence after an accident, and something to review when I get and irate call from a member of the public.

So, something that constantly records and I can easily down load the footage as and when I need to.

Ideally I would have liked to keep to around £150 per van. Quality does not have to be stunning. I wont be posting vids on youtube of our engineers scenic trips on the M25

We used to prank call vans with "how's my driving" stickers with a number on it. Effing and blinding down the phone to some poor sod... made the school trips hilarious though.

As ever, your advice is truly valued!! Many thanks.

However, you have given me a great idea for a prank and it involves your mobile number!!
