DD beater is the way to go in densely populated areas or suburban neighborhoods IMO. It's for peace of mind as I can jump in the beater car and nail the gas without worrying about first warming it up and park it anywhere with no worries. Also, the slow stop and go commute isn't fun to drive in anyway.

I daily my GT350. Drive it about 1100 miles a month averaging 17.6mpg so not too bad on gas. I have my “toy” car that gets driven a couple of times a month and in really bad weather, I drive the family 4wd suv. In Texas so typically no salt or snow.

The cost of extra gas is far less than the cost of another car with same amenities (something decent with a camera, decent heating and cooling etc), cost of second insurance, maintenance of the second car etc. gas is cheap in this country I pay an extra $100-150/month for gas. There is no way I would have a second car that cost less and to be honest even if the gas cost was $300 and second car could be had for $50, I would still do this hahaha

OP - I get it, these are a joy to drive, and I mean no judgment... this is just my personal opinion. For me, this car is meant for fun - something special to take out on a nice day and enjoy my favorite road to just get away from the daily grind. Plus, even though they are based on the lowly Mustang, they are still something special and will be forever. I restore old cars for fun, too, and I truly wince when I see special cars that were used up (and by used up, I mean driven into the ground through all sorts of conditions) back in the '50s, '60s, and '70s when they were just old cars - albeit old cars that were fun, even then, to own and drive daily. I have to admit to helping rust away quite a few cool cars back in the late '70s and early '80s when I first started driving, 'Cudas, Chargers, Camaros, and Mustangs (especially fastbacks) weren't safe around me - at least when the summer job was providing a pay check. There are places where daily driving doesn't do much more than add extra miles - places where the sun shines and the snow and salt don't fly. Here in the Midwest tundra, all my fun cars stay parked until I can enjoy them anew each spring.

It helps, though, if your winter car isn't a beater, but something that is actually fun to drive in the winter - in my case, it's a '15 4Runner.

Its a choice, in the end everyone has a personal decision to make. Where I m coming from is to help others who might want to do what I m doing but may be afraid to do it because they think the car cant take it because its a rwd (one must have awd!) 500+ hp sports car thats a mustang (rusts so you cant drive it in salt!).

All I m saying is if one is not driving the car year around because they are afraid about the above points, dont be. But if you just dont prefer driving this car during winter, then so be it thats your preference.

EDIT: one thing I forgot to add to my OP was I used fluid film on all undercarriage. That product deserves its own thread but basically it works unbelievably well keeping all water and salt off the car. The only salt there is on the plastic cover thats under the driver side covering the fuel lines and the film only works on metal.

Its not about whether the car take it for me. I know it can, its about longevity and keeping the car in top condition. I don't see why it matters to others how each uses their car. drive it as you please

I agree! I feel if one drives a special car like the 350 on a daily basis, it becomes less special over time. I can always tell if someone has a convertible as a daily driver - the top is never down on nice days! They've lost the magic feeling of driving top down, because it's become too available.

However, I don't begrudge the OP for wanting to daily drive a 350, or to inform folks that it is both doable and enjoyable. To each their own...

That was exactly my purpose of creating this thread, just to share my experience and that it was doable I agree with you 100%, to each his own.

Just saying. If you were truly "frugal" you'd own a used Camry and that would be it.

Speaking of Frugal, a few years ago my brother bought a new Tundra, fully loaded with every option you could buy (Leather, upgraded stereo, wheels, etc.), biggest V8, etc., and after he bought it he continued to drive his 25 year old compact single-cab Toyota pickup truck that had 200K miles on it, no air, no stereo, etc. He used it for his hobbies during the life of the truck, and our family nicknamed it the "stinky truck". He still drives it every day to work, 30 miles round trip in traffic. Gets better gas mileage. LOL.

He only drives his new truck on the weekends and to haul his 30' camper. But he really enjoys the new truck on the weekends and babies it.

No way I could do this, but I know people can go overboard when they are frugal!! I am in the "life's too short" camp to save something nice for the next guy.

I don't even have "winters". And I work from home. But for short errands, taking my dogs places, occasionally crappy weather, I take my Jetta.

Anything else, I take the GT. I'd be bored driving the GT as my only car. Not to mention 13 mpg would get depressing to me as well.
