Bad news I'm afraid.
"No we don’t get the upgraded interior you are referring to on RHD vehicles."
So.... I ordered a convertible with the custom pack. Normally a 'pack' of options comes at a discount not a surcharge. I don't get window trim on a convertible. What do I get for the additional cost over and above the three separate options and silver wheels. According to US sites the black and silver wheels are the same price. According to the Ford UK site the cost of the wheels as an accessory are the same for the front and for the back the black is more expensive (so that will be another mistake). So what do I get for the additional cost?

The only consolation is that there were no more boxes to tick (other than metallic paint and stripes) so mine will be as good as it gets.

Not entirely true though, is it?

There are RHD cars not only built, but on the boat right now, and yet we STILL have not gotten official confirmation on the specs.

There's literally NO excuse for that.
But have we not (its that Devil's Advocate thing again)?

We've debated the interior trim upgrade for months and as its turned out the official line is we're not getting any enhanced trim in RHD. They didn't tell us there would be different trim levels. We were the ones that noted the trim levels available in different markets and assumed we may get something similar. My dealer, and at least one other member both maintained that there was no information to say there would be interior trim changes. I cancelled my Custom Pack on this basis.

All the mod omissions - strut brace, DRLs, etc - the information is out there from Ford, it just wasn't fed to us by our dealers.

Anyone with access to ETIS has their full spec.

What don't we know?

I'm not saying they've done a great job, they haven't, but its not like they've been peddling false information.

That's just my opinion and i appreciate it won't be shared by many. Like everyone else I don't feel the love I would have expected having shelled out £35k but there you go, they've got us over a barrel...

This is unforgivable however. There should be some discount given to buyers of verts and of all the arguments I think this one is the most achievable, given a large enough group making the point. One of the Italian chaps has got Ford to fit front sensors as their brochure said it came with them.

I really hate being the devil's advocate, but... honestly...

Is it such a hassle?

Honestly, you order your car, and a while later it shows up.
Just depends on the individual I suppose. If you've little or no interest in what you will actually get when it finally turns up I guess that's genuinely ok.

We are all different but anyone who's had an eye on any of the many European and UK Mustang forums over the last year will have got an insight as to the hopes, expectations and excitement of people who are in line for a new Mustang.

Order and a while later it shows up - that's what I do with my groceries - only they make a way better job with £100 worth of groceries than Ford can manage to do with over £35k's worth of car.

^ .... this. Absolutely 100% this!

As for knowing what we're getting via ETIS, I think a) it's a bit too late when it's after the car has been built, and; b) quite a few items listed on ETIS are abbreviated or coded so I've got no idea what they mean (level 2 something, category 5 something else etc) - so I don't really know my full specification even now and my car is built!

All round, it's been a pretty poor show from Ford. Yes, they're in it to make money and I completely accept that - but a bit more openness and honesty for my £35k would have been nice.

I have every interest in what I'm going to get but no amount of interest is going to change whatever Ford decides that is going to be. At least not much.

I've been through the frustrated and angry stage. Guys who ordered after me have their cars built, not that this seems to mean much at present, or have build dates. I have a mid-October estimate and just about everyone I have emailed in this whole process has taken an age to reply or not bothered at all, Karen Batt excepted. Trying to be more philosophical now.

I'm getting a stunning looking car with a V8 and a bit of exclusivity. That's all I wanted and I'd pay £33k for that any day of the week. I'd do it again tomorrow even knowing what I know now. Everything else is a bonus.

This is basically where I'm at now. I've been there, I've written the angry emails to Ford, I've sworn over my dealer's inability to provide me answers, a VIN, a build date...

...and now I'm just sort of zen about it. I know it's going to be a Mustang, I know it's going to have a v8, and I know I'm going to love it. It arrives when it arrives. Honestly, it's out of my hands, so I'll just look forward to that day instead.
