Hoping to do a deal with my salesman, sorry saleswoman (my one left)on some tyres as the trade in value on my Amarok they gave me was typically on the low side.
I spoke to my dealer the other day & tried that. He said he doesnt know what tyres they're fitting as some people are saying Michelins. Told him its Pirelli P-Zero Summer Tyres, reply was only thing you can do is buy a set of winters and they'll fit them.

My current thinking is that after forking out more than twice the amount I've ever spent on a car before, it'd be a shame to then skimp on the tyres. May get a set of wheels/tyres. Current pick - 19" Team dynamics (UK company) Imola graphite (with a musting sticker in the middle) and Nokian winter tyres. Runs to about ÂŁ1200. However, there's plenty of time to change my mind again for the umpteenth time.

The tyre pressure sensors is still a slight concern (not to mention extra cost). I think someone mentioned that the frequency of the sensors may be different than the US as with some other manufacturers?

Storage is also a pain as wheels always seem to be much bigger when you take them off the car - they seem to magically grow by 50%

I am changing my wheels and tyres as the standard fitted Pirelli PZero tyres are a very bad tyre IMO. Had them fitted as standard on my A6 and in rain they are simply scary!

So Michelin PSS all the way! Best tyre money can buy (and dont forget, these four black circles are the only thing that has contact with the road, so the safer, the better).

As for wheels, i have gone for HRE FF01's in 20" in the colour Fog. Its a anthracite grey, matt colour. HRE is a US company but has a sales office in Germany. I think, in the UK as well.

The best part, these wheels are bigger than standard, but the weigh less
PICS!!

I'm going for these wheels, maybe in anthracite but likely liquid silver for my OW car.

Are they stupidly expensive over there too? ;)

Just a thought from a Yank, The chrome that it seems most of you dislike is I believe a nod towards the 1960's original cars. From 1964 1/2 to 1970 all of them had large amounts of the shiny stuff. the paint matched bumpers, trim and lack of chrome is a European thing that a lot of stateside manufacturers started using in the late 80's.

I cannot advise on the trim levels offered overseas, but the ecoboost and the v8 have several wheel offered to them, unless you have the performance package on the V8 then it is only the black or luster wheels. It is almost grey in appearance and not chrome. It does look great (the Luster ones) on white and the DIB colors, and havent seen or looked at them on any others.

Look fantastic. Are you going to run two wheels/tyres (summer/winter), or are you just going to keep these (on all-seasons) instead of the stock wheels/tyres?

Did you get them from a german distributor or did you import them yourself?

I only ask because it looked like it was going to work out a fair bit cheaper to self-import from the States vs buying them from a UK seller.

These wheels will be summer only. THe originals, not sure yet. I may keep them in the garage and re-mount them if I ever sell the car, OR I may use the originals as winter wheels. Not decided yet though if I will use my car in the winter though.

I bought mine from HRE's official dealership in Stuttgart.

This way, I'll get the ever so important TUV papers that we need in order to mount wheels....
