While I agree that the black ones look better, is it the case that the contact area is smaller on the black ones, also what about wheel security.I wonder if the supplied nuts could be etched black including any security nut supplied!

It's funny, some manufacturers have 'black pack' as an extra where chrome is standard and you pay for it to be deleted. I thought about this for a long time before making a final decision and looked at loads of cars that come with / without chrome trim - basically my opinion is that it blends in with light colours and stands out with dark but regardless it 'suits' classy cars far better than sporty ones. I finally made my mind up looking at 2 f-types that were the same colour but one had chrome, simply put the one without chrome looked far more aggressive and that's what I prefer. Also changed from magnetic to ingot - they were my 2 favs but I think silver will work best with the clear lights and was sold when I realised no-one else has ordered it apparently. Black roof and black wheels will set it of nicely.

The ones in the picture seem to be fitted to a stock wheel. I know what you mean though - the 'gorilla' black ones on CJ Ponyparts refer to 'small diameter' for aftermarkert wheels. Does this mean they wont fit the standard wheels? Might purchase some black ones in advance and will email to ask. I can keep these in the box full of crap I've already bought in anticipation.

You can get locking wheel nuts in black by the way. The chrome one the Euro cars are getting seems to be some big 'flower' thing.

Pardon my ignorance (mod virgin) but would it not be possible to source black wheelnuts in the UK? Are they not standard fitments?

You'd have thought so, just a case of matching up the size.

Wheel nuts on the Mustang will be a standard size, metric. The PCD is also standard. That flowery thing looks like a cap for the locking nut.

Yeah, completely standard in the UK. Ford America has finally discovered the metric system:clap2:

That wheel reminds me,what are people's thoughts on the tyres, are you going to change the tyres to all seasons, or go to the extra expense of new wheels and winter tyres and that tyre pressure sensor kit, or just leave it???? .To be honest I wouldn't have known any difference if I hadn't have read it on here!
Also I would rather buy wheels here than from the states for obvious reasons, but does anyone know what will fit as I wouldn't want them fowling the brembo's,and does the air pressure sensors you can buy on ebay differ from the ones fitted?

Just change the tyres buddy to all season, set of Bridgestone RE050A or similar. If you get your car spring/early summer, rag the arse off the summer tyres.

Saves all the hassle/expense with new wheels etc, plus our winters are not that severe and when it is bad, stay at home :D, or use the Mrs car.

Hoping to do a deal with my salesman, sorry saleswoman (my one left)on some tyres as the trade in value on my Amarok they gave me was typically on the low side.

I am changing my wheels and tyres as the standard fitted Pirelli PZero tyres are a very bad tyre IMO. Had them fitted as standard on my A6 and in rain they are simply scary!

So Michelin PSS all the way! Best tyre money can buy (and dont forget, these four black circles are the only thing that has contact with the road, so the safer, the better).

As for wheels, i have gone for HRE FF01's in 20" in the colour Fog. Its a anthracite grey, matt colour. HRE is a US company but has a sales office in Germany. I think, in the UK as well.

The best part, these wheels are bigger than standard, but the weigh less

I like to have a bit of a blast every now and again, nothing stupid but when i know i'm headed for a fill up the more economical driving style goes out of the window for a short period... weird or what?

I intend to see what the PZeros are like but if they turn out to be as unusable as some say they are, then as per Lone Survivor's suggestion its a good excuse to wreck them and get an all weather set.

I have no problem with the wheels and no real desire to upgrade to 20" rubber at present plus my father-in-law fits tyres which allows me to nip his head about not dinging the rims
