Custom Gem Stone shift knob

I am very excited to receive these 2 knobs today. The blue one is made out of lapis lazuli and the dark blue one is made out of Blue Tiger eye. Its hard to take the picture with my crappy cell but they looks exquisite in real life.

Paid around 150$ each plus shipping from this seller. Sounds expensive but these are real semi precious stone that will last forever.

Price is fair since the stone he used are very high quality. Similar quality Lapis or Blue tigereye 2 inch sphere are usually started at around 100$.

Both are 2 inch or 50mm in diameter, the tigereye weight at 187 gram and Lapis weight at 206 gram with the insert, which is a perfect weight for shift knobs.

Both knobs came with universal master insert, so the insert can be replaced if I want to move the knob to next car. Originally I thought about buying those 50$ plastic or stainless knobs, but once I started to look at these knobs, everything else just looks too plain to me. And ended up getting both because I can't decide which one to buy.

I am still waiting for JC's reverse lock adapter to arrive tomorrow, but I test fit on the car and the height is about perfect, it should work with the adapter,

BlueTigerEye looks PERFECT with the interior. Look forward to seeing pictures with the reverse lock adapter. Nice find!

Here is where I got the adapter from.

The adapter diameter is a little over 1-1/4 inch, height is a little less than 1 inch. The knob sits 1.5 inch higher than the stock knob height.

I used this rubber washer to fit between the adapter and the knob to protect the stone, which fits perfectly into the center section of the adapter.

No problem with the fitment, adapter is used like a jam nut so there is no need to use loctite.

The adapter is still bigger than I like, but I guess there is no way around it, it seems to use the bare minimum space available to fit in the reverse lock. Unless you want to use reverse lock only knobs, which will have very limited choices.

The knob does make a huge visual impact to the car interior. The extra weight also makes shifting smoother.

Knobs themselves look sensational but there has to be a better solution for the reverse lockout thing...I'd want it to look more OEM and not jack up the height of the shift ball.

Perhaps if the collar on the lockout collar could be trimmed down at least half its height (from the top to where it widens) then to hide the thread get a narrower metal tube (threaded on the inside) that would double as a jamb nut. I understand the lockout collar is plastic, which might make it hard to cut nicely. Perhaps I'll get on this when I'm done with my current invention project, an indoor electric fence for my dog. :headbonk:

yea, I think give it some time maybe vendors will come up with some better solutions for the adapter. Maybe a billet replacement for the whole plastic part. I am not a fan of that part anyway, it feels cheap and doesn't match with rest of the interior.
