It has been a while since I've had a V8--what RPM do folks usually cruise in? My general guidelines have always been don't go below 2000 rpm in a port injected engine, but direct injection engines (the auto versions) often cruise at ~1400 RPM. The Voodoo feels great at around 2500 RPM, but I'm wondering if folks typically cruise lower (or higher)?

I try to keep it above ~2500 RPM on the highway. I believe the Voodoo is very sensitive to lugging and I try really hard to avoid it. It's a pain because it means often on the highway I can't be in 6th gear because traffic/speed limits aren't fast enough, but I think the Voodoo prefers to spin a little faster.

I'm less careful in 1st or 2nd gear. I won't nail it at super low RPM even in 1st gear, but I will let the engine run down to 1,000 rpm or below in stop and go traffic. I'm just easy on the throttle until RPMs get up a little higher.

The Voodoo engine absolutely does not like anything under 1900 RPM over 4th gear. I do a lot of highway driving and 6th gear feels comfortable in my car above 65 MPH.
80 MPH = approx. 2200 RPM is my target and that usually yields about 23.5 - 24 MPG.

If you guys are light on the throttle, the car doesn't mind low RPM at all.

A lot of the roads that I frequent have speed limits 45-55mph range (usually run 5-10 over). If my wife is sleeping and in the car with me I will click it into 6th and let the car purr right along. You can feel when the engine is labored and in light throttle applications it has no problem at those speeds in a tall gear. Both of my coyotes were the same way.

Also, OP I don't think it has anything to do with DI vs port, but maybe the tuning, but my buddies 6th gen camaro refused any RPM under 1600. If you put into 6th at 55 it would buck and run like complete crap. It let you know immediately it wasn't happy.
