Cross Model Key Fob usage?

Okay guys and gals I have a question for you.

We just bought a 2015 mustang gt with all the options etc.
The previous owner only provided 1 key fob. It is the fob with lock/unlock/remote start/panic/and remote trunk pop.

Since the keys appear the same between say the 2015 fusion and the mustang... can I purchase a used fusion key and have ford program it for the mustang?

Interesting question. Best way would be to ask your local dealer or contact Ford's help line.

I will probably end up doing that. Just wasn't sure if anybody had tried it lol.

I did it when I had my 2015. The fusion key worked fine. I repurposed that key to my wife's 2015 Edge after I sold the Mustang so I'm 99% sure you can get one from any of the 3 vehicles to work.

Keep in mind that the spare key looked just like the original Mustang key. Not sure if the newer ones or older ones work.
