Crap Windshield Wipers

Get the top of the line Bosch blades, and you will never look back. I get 2-3 years out of these suckers, and they get lots of usage in an Oregon winter, trust me (we get mostly "liquid sunshine" in our winters!). Nothing else even comes close to lasting that long...

my second set 1st replacement set (rain ex) are about to give up @ 6 months. Which is expected.

Rain-X isn't really good at anything except paying auto parts stores to only stock their products (washer fluid) and prime shelf space on the wiper aisle :doh:

They're marketing dept. is excellent, but their products are crap.

Do you have a link backing this claim up? I've used Rain-X for years and have always been satisfied with their product. I'd be interested in any information regarding their products being "crap "

Other than personal experience, no...Rain-X itself (the rain repellent) does exactly what it claims. Their washer fluids freeze in cold weather even when they say they won't-strike one. Their wiper blades usually last about 6 months on my cars, when I can get 2-3 years out of a set of the Bosch Icon blades-strike two. Finally, my wife's 2007 Chevy TrailBlazer (Arctic White) has orange splotches in the finish around the windshield courtesy of Rain-X's summertime bug-splat-eating washer fluid that won't come out-strike three. Thanks to them displacing all the alternatives, unless I mail order, I can no longer purchase any other washer fluids locally (well, except the store brand at Fred Meyer, and Lord knows what that is!)

I've had the same wipers on my 02 GT for 7 years and they still do a good job. The key is to clean the blades with an alcohol wipe or similar and they will last a long time. Clean them whenever you wash your car or at least once a month.

I live in Las Vegas. Very hot and dry. I have had my 2015 Mustang GT since December 2014. I still have the original wiper blades. Every 2-3 months, I apply Armor All (or similar product) to the wiper blades. Been doing this for years on wiper blades. Keeps your wiper blades like a good burger: tender, juicy, delicious.

My cars over a year old now and the wipers are still in good shape. I'm in NY if that makes a difference but when I need to I'll switch them. Hopefully there will be more on the market in a couple of months

I would disagree.........Bosch are noisy,skip like mad and are over priced:frusty:

I bought Siliblades for my jeep on the longevity reports I had seen posted. They have a 5 year warranty if I recall, mine are going on 6-7 years now with little care. They do behave a little badly now that they are this old, it takes about 5 minutes of them wiping the windshield in the rain before they make a sqeeky clean pattern. Just another option out there if you are looking for blades that last a long time. Oh yeah, not sure if they make them for our mustangs..?

Only ever used mine for cleaning. Its a daily driver. Had same set on my 08 mustang for 5 years. Its good to be in San Diego

Never had an issue with skipping or noise. I use the Bosch Icon blades...

When the wiper blades are making squeegee noises, that's a sign that you need to turn the delay interval up ;) (in other words, not enough water on the windshield!).

I generally replace my blades at every other oil change. That's approximately every 15k miles and about once a year. That works for me. I also use the Valeos.
