Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but it should still be 10qts. Most of the oil is in the block/pan so it shouldn't be effected by the head too much.
That’s what I figured just want to be on the safe side appreciate your time!

It depends on what oil pan you put on that shortblock. Shortblocks don't come with an oil pan, so you have to put one on yourself. Your choice of oil pan will dictate how much oil you need to fill it with.

In your case, using the Gen 3 oil pan takes 10 quarts.

Question,
Why did you go with gen 2 heads? Also, the gen 2 compression is 11:1, and gen 3 12:1, so what is the compression going to be on your hybrid setup?
I thought it was more desirable to go gen 2 short block for durability, and with gen 3 heads for port and direct injection no?

best decision cost wise for me I didn't have the extra money laying around to go gen 3 heads my factory gen 2 block cracked so push come to shove higher compression new motor in a budgeting manner cheaper than the long block assy. for a 2016 mustang gt

How are you going to manage the knock detectors? Do you need a Gen 3 computer or would a custom tune manage them ok?

I am currently running (2) knock sensors exactly how you would on a gen 2 and a custom tune will take care of that and your oil level sensor as well since gen 3 block oil pan does not have one.

Ah gotcha. Good to know. I thought someone quoted way back (different thread) that you couldn’t run the Gen 3 with a Gen 2 computer. I think I get it though - still run the Gen 2 computer and only 2 knock sensors. That would make sense to me. Are the sensors the same?

They are different than the gen 2 knock sensors and same computer that came with the car is currently still in living proof🤙🏽
