I want to test my coolant before the winter....when I did the radiator and supercharger I just kind of eyeballed a 30/70 mixture.

My question is this:

Is the over flow active meaning coolant cycles through or is the coolant in there whatever I dumped in last?

Other than testing via the overflow I'll have to crack the petcock and take a sample.

The coolant is constantly being put in and taken out as needed by expansion. Therefore it gets cycled over time.

You're not using Ford's pre-mixed orange stuff? It does make it easy.

Just use the Prestone mixed stuff. I got a whole bunch of it cheap and now I have too much of it. It's the same exact stuff Ford uses without the high cost.

It's working perfectly fine and 0 issues. I highly doubt the Ford one is doing anything more magical than the stuff you can buy from Home Depot, Auto Zone, O'Reilly's, etc. Just spending more money for a brand name.
I'd tend to agree with you on most things but not all antifreeze is compatible. Doesn't mean it going to be an issue 100% of the time, but mixing them is certainly not optimal.

I misunderstood. I was thinking a full flush which is what I did. I agree mixing the two is not wise as there are still some very minor differences. My bad!
