I'm hoping that someone with a convertible can answer a question for me. My previous car was a Jeep Wrangler. I liked being able to drive with the top off. The winters with the hard top was fine, but with the soft top on in the summers, it was a pretty loud ride, especially on the highway. How does the Mustang sound with the roof on while highway driving? I expect noise with the top off, but hoping with the roof on it will be pretty quiet. I also don't plan on much winter driving, I have another car for that, but does the convertible roof make the car very cold? The Jeep was pretty brutal if I had the soft top on too late in the season. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Ford actually put in a layer of insulation between the headliner/actual cloth. I've owned a couple different convertibles (a 240sx & late 90's SL500). The wind noise at highway speeds is neglible, almost as good as the SL. I'm not sure about how cold it would be (I'm in So Cal), but there is insulation; the heater & heated seats also work very well.

No problems. Very quiet with the top up even at freeway speeds.

I traded a 2013 GT vert for the 2015 V-6 vert, and I can attest that the 2015 vert tops are very much quieter than the last generation's tops. Very little road noise through the new tops. And I have noticed that the car's interior seems to cool down on scorching days much quicker with this top up. I think that's because of the top's insulation rather than a better AC. Hope this helps...these S550 verts are superior.

The top's insulation is very good. Touching the top's interior even on a very sunny day...no noticeable heat coming through. I have tinted windows and the sun's heat still feels more intense coming through the windows than through the top. I was also pleasantly surprised on how quiet the interior is with the top up and the windows closed. With the windows open, there is noticeable turbulent noise...but modern cars are aerodynamically designed to be driven with the windows closed.

Thanks all for the advice, I ordered a coupe, but am having some issues with the dealer now. If it isn't resolved on Wednesday, they are refunding my deposit. I saw a 16 convertible at another dealership that I might check out a bit more.

What everyone else said, plus the stereo sounds better in the Verts.

The triple-layer insulated convertible top on a Mustang is worlds better than anything on a stock Jeep. The air conditioning is easily able to keep up even on triple digit summer days in Texas.
