Components for Sync 3 Conversion

So I am thinking about converting over to the full Sync 3 System from my Base Stereo.

Parts have been popping up on ebay more and more now compared to past 6 months to a year.

I wanted to confirm/find out exactly which parts I would need for this conversion.

Here is my understanding of what is needed (might have the names wrong), please correct me if I am wrong.

- Premium Bezel
- Sync 3 Screen
- Sync 3 Computer Module (I believe this module is available either with nav or without)
- The CD Player Unit (I am not sure if my existing CD Player unit will work or if I have to get a Specific Sync 3 version)
- GPS Unit/Antenna
- Harness/Wiring

I think that is all I need but please let me know if I am missing something.

Here is what I am not sure about:

- Is HD radio included or do I need to get some other part
- Is Sat radio included or do I need to get some other part
- Is Navigation dependent on the module or screen also


If anyone has part numbers, that would be great.

- Sync 3 Screen: Correct (usually module and screen are sold together)
- Sync 3 Computer Module (I believe this module is available either with nav or without): Correct, Make sure you verify that the module came from a car with factory nav since it is very expensive to add later.
- The CD Player Unit (I am not sure if my existing CD Player unit will work or if I have to get a Specific Sync 3 version): Not exactly required, base headunit can be programmed to work with the sync module and screen. HD radio and sat radio will require a premium headhunt however.
- GPS Unit/Antenna: Antenna required for sync 3 regardless of nav or no nav.
- Harness/Wiring: Correct, you can modify your current harness to work.

I think that is all I need but please let me know if I am missing something.

Here is what I am not sure about:

- Is HD radio included or do I need to get some other part: I believe HD radio does not require any additional hardware other then the premium headunit.
- Is Sat radio included or do I need to get some other part: Additional sat radio antenna is required.
- Is Navigation dependent on the module or screen also: Nav is dependent on the sync module (APIM)

Yep...you need to program your ACM (the CD player) and maybe the APIM (Sync module) if you got it from a car that's not a Mustang
