Has anyone who purchased a 4'' to 8'' harness from OEMRadio (Jesse) have a connection for the car play usb hub? Mine came with the cable pictured below, but that square grey connector will not work with the usb hub.

I was told I need a wpt1239 pigtail, but I do not know what the 8-pin black connector is in the picture to help create the cable I need. Anyone help? I have found many 8-pin power connectors but the 8-pin patterns don't match what is in the picture.

If you just need it for CarPlay then just get a $1 4-pin connector instead of getting the Ford one for like $29, after that you need to find a power source to feed the USB hub...I've used the cigar lighter connector in the armrest

Well the benefit to this is the harness has already been tapped for power. I just need the wpt1239 pigtail and to find this same 8-pin power connector to attach to it. I may need to contact Jesse again to see where he got this 8-pin connector, but I feel bad bugging him so much.

This extension in the pic is for the MFT media hub, so yeah you could grab power from it then use a 4-pin connector for the Apple CarPlay hub

Yeah I was hoping to get another black 8-pin connector like on this extension and connect it to a 4 pin connector (or the wpt1239 pigtail since I need some cable to reach the hub anyways) for the carplay hub.

Jesse just emailed me that he does have some extensions I need, so this thread may no longer be needed.

Yeah he is, I have bugged him a lot and he is very helpful. At first he told me he didn't have any of the extensions which is why I created this thread, but I guess he found some. Hopefully I am about done bothering him so he can do his normal work.

I've done the 4" to Sync 3 conversion, and successfully tested CarPlay using a cigar lighter adaptor I had to hand.

When it came to hard wiring it in, I tapped from the two wires to the cigar lighter in the armrest, and fried the hub. I assume I reversed the polarity.

Now that I have had another replacement hub delivered, I was hoping that someone would be kind enough to let me know of a foolproof power/ground to hook up to, so that I don't make another $60 mistake.
I don't mind running wire to elsewhere in the car to do this.

Thanks,
Pete

I followed Dan's instructions to the T and was successful.

Thanks for your reply,

I have seen that thread, however since I have a base GT, the existing harness is just for the aux sound input, and doesn't to my knowledge have an appropriate power wire (the harness only has three wires).

Exactly what I needed to know, thanks X0AYHAM0X - you have made my day!

I didn't have the official pigtail, so re-purposed a 4 pin connector I had lying in my PC spares box, then made it all look neat with tape. Was able to avoid frying a second hub..
ApplePlay is working well.

All I need now is a cable to connect from the second port at the rear of the hub to replace the front USB under the radio.

You're welcome man :)

Just remember that you need to use pin 1 & 4 only.
