Ive read plenty about the typewriter tick in the Coyotes, but was wondering what other common complaints have you Aussie guys and girls had with your S550's?. What do I need to keep an eye out for?.

A lot of the common issues with S550 Mustang's relate to poor build quality and consistency.

This would include -

- Inconsistent body panel alignment. This will vary from car to car but usually relates to the hanging panels like the hood, boot lid and doors.

- Paint quality. This is not necessarily a Ford or Mustang thing, more of an industry thing with regulations surrounding paint systems. Even so, look for dust nibs or poorly addressed spot fixes from the production line.

- Interior material quality, in particular cheap materials and poor alignment.

- Engine oil cooler failures, mostly caused by excessive heat due to their location next to an exhaust manifold.

- Hood corrosion.

- The MT-82 manual transmission. This is a lottery, some are good, while many are noisy or graunchy, often both. Complete failure is not uncommon, although some of that will come down to driver abuse and poor build consistency from the Chinese factory.

- Brake booster hose is poor fitting and can weep if not kept an eye on.

- The 5.0 V8 ticking noise is also a lottery, some do it, some don't.

- The valve covers on the V8 can loosen over time.

- I have heard of rear diff bushings flogging out prematurely. Again, something that I suspect relates to driver abuse. It's also a big, heavy and powerful car, the bushings are effectively a consumable.

- A/C condenser failure is also a relatively common, requiring a dash-out fix.

- The pony puddle lights lose definition over time, not sure if this relates to 2018+ cars though.

That's all I can think of at the moment.

The oil cooler and air conditioner evaporator problems seem to be remarkably reduced since the 18+ model was released. My 2016 had the air con fail 3 times, but once the upgraded version went in it was fine. I have seen very few reports on here of failures in recent years.

That's it then.

The i30 will be better built and better finished BUT NOTHING sounds like that V8.
I’m not getting a V8 so that doesn’t affect me. Haha. When it was looking like I might not get a car built I was seriously looking at the i30 N-line or whatever their top mode is.

@DFB5.0 - for the ticking noises, is this the one that's coming from behind (like near the seat belts area) of the car? Or should I be expecting it somewhere else. Have had some ticking noise for some time but wasn't sure if it's the one or not.

I imagine the ticking noise DFB5.0 is refering to is the engine tick that some +18's have. Mine got it after first oil change like most that have it do. A half bottle of Ceratec fixes it until next oil change. Maybe the noise you hear is the fan in the seat for the seat cooler.

Ah... Gotcha @PKs - I guess I'll find out after the first oil change then.

The condenser is in front of the radiator. it's the evaporator that is inside the car.
The only problems I have had with my car (so far) is the levers in the back of the front seats were very hard to operate. The dealer has fixed this issue and they now work perfectly. The bonnet/hood is not perfectly aligned but is a very minor misalignment. I will address this myself when I fit the gas struts.
I think some of issues, however, are from poor care and engines being not properly run in.
I didn't want the Getrag gearbox so I opted for the 10 speed auto. A choice I am glad I made as it is an amazing transmission.

I think the majority, if not all of those issues only relate to the early batch FM cars, and most problems were resolved by the MY17 or MY18 (FN), including relocating the Oil Cooler.
