I have had my 2017 just over a week.
Details: base GT, Lightening Blue, ebony cloth, performance package, nickel wheels, rear sensor
Background: Starting in the early 1990's I had an Explorer stick, then wife's Accord for a few years, then a BMW 330Ci stick, then a MINI Cooper S stick.
Wife has had Pathfinder, MDX, and now Escape. We are happy with the quality and fit-n-finish of the Escape. That, and the looks of the S550 led me to go test drive the Mustang.
I test drove the Mustang EB stick and GT. Came away with decision to order a GT in LB. The extras on the Premium model were not worth the extra $$ for me.
I have had it a little over a week, putting on 350 miles. I have not pushed it: kept it below 3000 rpm and 65 mph for the first 200 and now gradually getting the revs and speed up, and not gunning it. Waiting for 1000 miles to start pushing it.
Here are some initial impressions:
+ I love the color and the wheels. I get a number of compliments, especially from the ladies.
+ I like the feel of the cockpit. The seats are nice and the layout is good.
+ I love the keyless entry/exit.
+ I love the LSD! (I have the Torsen
. ) No more wheel spin while turning through gutters.
+ The shifter seems to be fine to me so far. If it loosens I may go for the MGW.
+ I can work the clutch OK, but have not been doing hard downshifting or heel-toe so far due to break-in. I bought the Steeda spring to try out to see if it feels better.
+ The dead petal is too narrow. The one on my MINI was twice as wide.
+ I find the airbag warning label on the visor to be a driving distraction.
+ I would have liked to see XM/sirius in base model. Tried FM; now using CDs and looking for my iPod.
+ I think seat memory might be nice.
+ I initially thought using "ground speed" on the speedometer was a bit silly. I'm used to it now.
+ Not sure I like the engine sound piped to the cabin. I will likely try the sound tube delete.
+ As for steering, brakes, and other performance items, I'm waiting for the break-in period to end.
