Hey everyone,

I wanted to see if anyone else was experiencing this. On cold starts during the first 2-3 miles of driving the acceleration seems to be a little hesitant and jerkey. After the car warms up a bit more its fine. I'm not sure if this is an engine or transmission thing. I have a MT-82 with a little over 30k. Bone stock. Also just to note. I always let the car warm up for at least a few minutes before driving away. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

I only really notice rough shifts when the temperature is really low and even then only maybe the first one or two shifts.

Side note, idling the engine isn't doing anything to your gearbox oil. You could idle it for 10 hours and the gear oil would still be cold. Just a FYI.

A manual tranny is either engaged, or disengaged, so it's not going to be the tranny. Notchy (a little harder) shifting is normal when tranny is cold, as well as a little 'nibble' (like a little hit between gates, especially the 2-3), but if it shifts fine, meaning no grinding of any kind, the tranny and clutch are well. Engine also requires to be warm for fueling to be good, but with ever stringent emissions, even hot, modern engines can be touchy, including ours. I noticed my Bullitt bucks if I engage 1st before stopping (like catching a traffic light green right before you stop), so now I don't do that anymore (just select 2nd gear), and problem solved. Otherwise, engine is smooth at all other operating conditions.

Those are the characteristics of the mt82’s. If you still have the stock fluid switch to Amsoil Synchromesh..it improves it.
