2019 GT / Is it worth getting a intake that doesn’t require a tune or leaving it stock. My plan was buying the corsa intake for 18+ and running that until i tune the car but now that I have done some digging about IATs and what not, people are just saying to drop in a K/N filter and that even that is better then getting a JLT intake but I haven’t see anyone make 475whp on K/N filter, tune, and e85 thoughts?

No, IMO. Get the KN filter and call it good. CAI's are not magic and most will give you worse IAT's. THe stock air box is fine unless going FI.

I'll let you know when I do an E85 tune and re-dyno. This is my baseline on stock tune with only a K&N drop in filter. Before you think "happy dyno", I included my time slip trapping 121.5 before IRS lockouts, with full interior only on drag pack.

If the Corsa had a clean MAF signal and was tune required with a 120MM or larger inlet, it would be worth it. Otherwise, save your money and get a drop in. The Gen3's do quite well with airflow through the stock box.

You may see a slight gain at the top with cone filter style intakes but not enough to say it's a lot better than stock.

If you're not tuning, leave the stock CAI and just keep a clean OEM filter in it.

The K&N doesn't flow any better, and there's the possibility of smearing the MAFS with the oil that's on them.

I got the ford performance tune which has an open air box and the iat climb really high in traffic. Once I'm moving they come right back down. But the stock air box with a K&N is probably better than what I have I only have it because it was part of the tune.

K&N oiled cone will not smear the MAFS, that it totally on the user.

The conversations about high IAT temps, seem to always focuse on sitting in traffic.. OK

So what is the big deal here ? Like the coolant temp, traffic causes heat soak, some of that also comes up off the asphalt.

The only concern I would have, is if either of those were to remain high. Moving, at higher or constant speeds.

I've had my eye on the Corsa since they launched, but my primary motivation is looks. I already have an AFE dry filter in my stock box. From a performance perspective, I don't think they're worth what they sell for, but damn they look nice. Is that worth the price of admission to you? I'm starting to lean toward no myself.

Stock box with drop in if not tuning. Keeps iats down and on 18+ oem flows great. Long tubes and e85 will get you well over your target power while keeping oem intake.

Okay so that was all useful information now my next question disregarding IATs do you actually receive any power gains even ever so slightly? And in case I wanted to go the JLT intake route how can I get one in California

My tune required PMAS gave me a 2/10ths & 1.5 mph increase down the strip over my previous 112mm JLT (which would be equivalent to your 19 airbox more or less) . I call that significant. So for you you'd need the 18+ JLT which I believe in 120mm (could be wrong on that), or a PMAS.

A cold air intake isn't worth it unless you plan on additional performance mods and tuning. On a mostly stock car a CAI won't do much; the stock box is engineered very well and breathes as good as a closed CAI. They can sound cool if you're after that though.

18 JLT is 120MM. I put mine on when inspection time comes because that tune has my O2's turned off for the readiness check, lol. Even with the additional size, my current intake flows more than the JLT but not by much in the higher rpm range. The Gen3 just flows more air naturally than the Gen2.

Got a drop-in Afe dry filter from 4wheelonline, and I'm very pleased. It is easy to clean. I don't know if there's an hp gain but I noticed that the throttle response slightly improved.
