I have a 2020 GT350, completely stock, with a clutch assist spring that I am not happy with. I don't mind so much that it is heavy, but the release doesn't feel linear, and I find it difficult to drive smoothly in every day scenarios.

I realize that the Steeda clutch spring isn't an option for my model year, and I haven't seen any indicators that they are making one for the '19s and '20s. Looking to see if anyone knows of another option???? I have done a lot reading about just removing it entirely, but I am not sure that I am comfortable with that. I am no mechanic, but the concerns about the clutch keeping pressure on the master cylinder and leading to leaking seals seems legit, particularly considering that Ford put a spring in there to begin with. If I am way off on this, I welcome the feedback.

Thanks in advance.

My ‘19 doesn’t do well pussyfooting around either, especially going into second. My solution is to hammer it and everything smooths out ;-)
Seriously though, this car begs to be driven hard.

I replaced my spring with a much lighter random parts clearance sale spring from princess auto for like a dollar. Got a thread about it here somewhere here. Worked beautifully.

Diddo on the rough shift into 2nd. I don’t mind driving it harder, just hoping that when I don’t want to, I can at least drive it smoothly.....

Go drive a Fox body with a manual clutch and then get back to me about how stiff your hydraulic clutch is. IMO, the GT350 has just about the best clutch, brakes, transmission and engine ever put into a Mustang.

LOtta times people making the hard 1-2 shift they put it between 2-4. Same with the 2-3 shift, they put it between 3-5. Results in the grind when they force it. I've said many times, 99.9% of the time it's the sack of water between the wheel and drivers seat that's the problem.

Coming out of Vipers, the stock GT350 clutch pedal was way too soft for me. I finally removed the OEM assist spring and it still feels way soft but much better than original.

My M6 Hellcat had a restrictive piece of plastic that Mopar calls a "clutch delay valve"..... took that out and what an entirely different experience...BMW used to have the same thing......My 50 mile 2020 shifts great IMO......haven't explored the pieces / parts and system of the GT350 yet.....

I thought that starting in 2019, GT350s had no spring any longer.

Oh yeah, not all car brands have them. None of my BMWs had them for example and there is nothing to be concerned about leaking master cylinders and such. I am not even sure how certain vendors got to that conclusion...

It’s good to hear that my concerns over removing the assist spring may be unwarranted, I may just pull it out next spring season and drive for awhile like that to see if I like the difference.

You have a 2020 car. You most likely have no spring unless Ford went back to that.
