Installing the Steeda Clutch Spring Assist

This took me way longer than it should have, but I like to do things the hard way... :frusty:

I love the way the new spring feels. Way better than the stock one. It feels much more natural and the clutch doesn't jump out at you when you start to let it go. Highly recommend.

I think I've commented on other threads but completely agree. Its kind of a pain to swap if you dont have vice grip pliers (I didn't) but this is probably my favorite upgrade I have done as it was the best value and has had the most noticeable impact on my driving experience.

Just be very careful not to break the plastic mount or else you are screwed and will have to dole out another larger chunk of change for a new one.

I did the spring replace and maybe because I have very big muscular legs, no joke, like freakishly strong, I noticed about zero difference. But if it works for y'all, glad for you. I love all of my Steeda stuff thus far, but the spring did not do much for me.

Mostly same experience for me as well. Zero luck using vise grips to remove too and ended up finding that it's faster and far easier to remove and reinstall without tools. I ended up putting the factory setup back in as I actually like it better.

Yeah, huge pain in the butt. I ended up breaking the stock one a little too, but that's fine.

Interesting. You actually like the stock one more? I guess you could get used to it after a while...

I just pulled the stock one out. It's not like I wasn't willing to spend ~$15, no spring works great for me.

I swapped to the Steeda and noticed a big difference on my track pack, but on my R, the difference was not as huge. Drove with no spring on the TP and that felt good as well.

Yeah, I liked the clutch feel from the first time I drove it, ironically. Expected to hate it going off of the threads here and other forums. If anything I'd have gotten used to the Steeda spring feel but for me stock works better. Now that I have the R&R down, I may try it again but there is no hurry.

I second the hood struts. That was my very first mod. Great product and function.

I prefer the simpler method, less things to replace. Hood struts will have to be replaced in the future. If it really bothers someone, it's a ~$100 mod. I rather that, then make tens of thousands of others pay for it to be included when most people don't really care.

I agree. After I have failed struts on my 5 series, and my X6, just because of old age, and when you have to hold your hood with your head in order to do a simple task of adding windshield washer fluid....then you tend to appreciate the simple and failsafe things in life :lol:
