Hi guys. I have a 6 speed 2017 GT with 46k miles.

I noticed that when I’m parked and start reversing, my car makes a single clunk sound from the back. Is just a single one right after the car stars moving.

it also happens when moving forward from parked but less noticeable(sometimes not a all).

Any ideas?

thanks

First thought is drive shaft universal joints- or whatever passes for u joints on these.
Second and third thoughts are sloppy diff and wheel bearings.
Distant 4th would be sticking brakes.

I did some further testing.

if I put my car in reverse and depress the clutch pedal and let out the brakes for 1 second or 2 and star reversing I get not clunking sound but if I go from brake pedal to gas pedal quickly I hear the clunking sound.

It is your front brake pads knocking against the calipers. It is a once per slow speed direction change as you described.

This same question came up a week ago, so you can search for it if so inclined.

the knocking sound is from the back. I’m going to change pads on my rear brakes because it’s due. Let’s see.

A lot of people are saying the correct things, but it’s nothing serious. Just your driveshaft. It’s a two piece shaft so it’s metal on metal. From stand still it turns and gets the other piece going.
