Everytime I take off from a dead stop, and shift from 1st to 2nd gear I hear a weird clunking sound coming from the dashboard area behind the infotainment system. It is intermittent but its annoying me and i dont want something to give out on me...

I have a 2015 GT 6-Spd mustang.
Anyone know what this may be? Its not a grinding sound. Just sounds like something is like rolling back and forth hitting a wall.

update:

Video that I recorded. Quality is horrible but you can hear what i’m talking about.

Is it an aftermarket infotainment system or OEM? Does it look like it was messed with at all?

Try to record it. Never heard of such thing. And try to give us more precise info, like if it happens when you move the shift lever, and if you feel anything strange. And did it start happening all of a sudden after a mod, or you just bought the car? The more details, the more relevant help you'll get :).

Yeah, more questions for you than answers.
What does it sound like, something heavy or light? Does it sound like it's in the dash or engine compartment?

The first thing I thought of was that something fell into the defroster vent and is rolling around in a duct somewhere.

Are all of your key fobs accounted for?

But seriously, I agree that something probably fell down a defrost duct.

OEM, Doesnt seem like it was ever removed or messed with. No knicks or scratches around the panel edges

In 2nd can you replicate the sound by just on and off the throttle to accelerate and decelerate? Just to eliminate any clutch/transmission noises.

Do hard left rights replicate it?

Get a passenger in the car to listen, noises can seem to come from one place in driver seat and somewhere somewhere else in passenger seat, have passenger move around while replicating the noise to pinpoint it maybe they can get their head closer to the perceived location of the sound. (May get some funny looks from other drivers :) )

Assuming you emptied your glove box and the hidden one for the user manual? When I try to find these things emptying the car of everything loose including the trunk area spare wheel (or inflator) works wonders. Last time I was convinced the sunroof was clunking, kids had left a small bottle in the rear door cup holder :)

Thats so interesting.. I've never heard such a sound. It appears like something fell into the engine bay? I would take it to a dealer and let them have a look around with the car in the air. Unless you have the means to do that yourself of course.
