Close-call thread (Dash Cam)

I usually prefer the outside turn lanes because I can go wide if the car in the inside lane suddenly go too wide (people always turn sharper than they think on the inside so they go wide at the end because the curb).

My GF was driving and she did this very thing. She swung wide and went from inside to outside turn lane. I said "What the hell?!". She said "Oh! I forgot that that was a double lane turn!"

And she really is an excellent driver. I guess it can happen to the best of us.

I see people do this all the time, I always expect they will. I try not to put myself directly side by side folks on double turn lanes.

I think he/she just went over the lines without even checking the mirrors or glancing over that side. He/she was a moron.

Maybe they should put spike strips between double turn lanes to make people stay in their own lanes. A few blown tires might wake them up and learn how to drive.

not a close-call but I saw the green light and was tempted to get on the gas, when I noticed a bicycle blocking the lane. Going slow. At night.

I attempted to honk the horn at the bicycle and pressed the center of the horn a couple of times and nothing. After giving up and continuing on, I remember you have to push at the edge of the horn

A lesson I learned decades ago in drivers education that has served me well on countless occasions; “Always(when possible) leave a way of escape”.

This is so true! Nothing, absolutely nothing, bothers me more when driving than when a car is in my blind spot that I did not know was there. I always like to be aware of where cars are around me so I know what my options are if the fit hits the shan. This has saved my bacon more times than I can count, that I feel comfortable bailing into the lane next to me because I am 100% certain that there is nothing else there.

In my state bicycles are legally allowed to use the full traffic lane (and the bikers know this), so honking would have pointless.

In any case, riding at bicycle at night like that, with no reflective gear seemed like a bad idea.
