Not really discreet, no, but it's meant to be more of a hybrid of a GoPro and a dash cam... and I think it hits it very well.

That Waylens system looks good, I love the live GPS orientation. But how's the night time performance? So many dash cams let me down with low light deficiencies.

I have some unprocessed video from around dawn. It's super crisp. I'll try to get some night video in the next couple days.

So, first real run of my new Waylens action/dash cam. It was a Kickstarter project that really turned out amazing. it includes a host of onboard GPS and accelerometer sensors, and connects to your car via wireless OBD-II and to your phone for internet. This allows screen widgets such as pitch/roll, g-force, speed, tach, boost, time/date, and even weather and a mini-map. The widgets are all recorded metadata that you can individually turn on or off after recording before you export the video. This is a truly awesome camera.

Oh, yeah, it also includes footage of a typically clueless Corolla driver :D

Interesting but pricey considering there are dashcams out there with better resolution and similar sensor sizes. I also have doubts about whether its a good idea having all of that additional data encoded with your video. It could be a real double edged sword in certain scenarios. Having the info as metadata that is optionally exported could get into areas of spoliation of evidence if they choose not to turn it over. If someone is aware of the capabilities of that device, and if I were facing someone using it, I would absolutely insist upon that metadata.

bit to much boy racer for me,
the Thinkware F750 for me wipes the floor with it, also has a remote app and when linked to the PC you get most of that info anyway, and of course all the other extras you get with the Thinkware

let’s hope that those who hope to find YouTube fame behind the Waylens keep their stunts off the streets. And if they don’t, well I suppose there’s a certain Darwinian likelihood they’ll end up being their own worst enemy.

I too use the F750 dial cam setup and imho is unbeatable by anything out there. Though the F770 is out now...

Actually, the button is only to highlight notable sections of the recording and save them off-loop. The full video still records in a continuous loop as much as the MicroSD card can handle and can be exported in whole.

As I said, it's not for everyone, and it isn't meant to be just a discreet dash cam. But I'm not trying to sell it to you, and I'm 100% happy with the product I backed.

I was moving left with the blinker on... the white SUV caused me to jump on the brakes and hold. While the white SUV did not have its blinkers on when i got behind the red car they were doing 35 mph!!! US 19 is a 55 mph zone...:frusty::frusty::frusty: - oh and ignore the date :).

That Waylens camera really is nice. Love the features of that thing. Just bought myself a Thinkware F770 front and rear camera though. Also got the the windshield and the rear window tinted so I'm a little unsure as to when to mount them. Any of you guys got the front or back windows tinted and have a mounted dash cam?
