Clearplex for Windshield film protection?

Looking for opinions from those who have put Clearplex film on their windshield for protection? i.e. issues regarding durability, distortion, cost?

I had something on a previous Porsche and took it off because it scratched up when dirt hit it on a track day. Prefer none and frequent cleaning. On car different story- looking for PPF for car now.

I think it's more critical to have protection film on the paint than the glass. I have a few tiny chips on the windshield. Nothing a $10 kit windshield repair kit can't fix.
