I used the light clay bar from chemical guys that contains no abrasives, which they recommend for new cars. It did wonders on my paint and with a proper wax the paint feels incredible and has a mirror finish.

Its best to clay 2-3 times a year with a quick detailer, followed up with a polish, wax and sealant. If you wanna go balls crazy you could also do the whole Ceramic coat (opti-guard, opti-coat). Check out chemical guys on youtube they have alot of DIY videos :)

I took mine straight to a detailer after the 150 mile trip home from the dealer. I ordered mine custom from the factory, took delivery with between 1 - 2 miles on the OD. (Dealer did wash it, against my wishes :C Car is black so... yeah didn't want them washing it) After he washed and dried the car we went over it. We found two small areas with light paint swirl, and an area in the back with a pretty gnarly scratch from transport.

However the paint in general was in extremely good shape. We did the plastic test all over her and found that we didn't need to clay, so we put that money towards a buff to get rid of the scratches. Now YMMV, especially if you have one from the lot, or one from the factory that sat out for a bit.

Absolutely clay your car. Also, use and Iron X type product after delivery. There will be a TON of rail dust on it.

I clay twice per year, once at the end of spring/early summer, and again in the fall.

I can't wait for it to warm up a bit so I can finally give my car a good detailing. I definitely plan to clay it followed by a good sealant/wax.

First detail for me. Surface originally felt a little rough, but not bad. Tried the Iron X, didn't see any color change so it wouldn't seem like much, if any iron dust. Went to clay. Worthwhile, but didn't collect a lot. Sealed with JetSeal. Looks great, will add some wax tomorrow.
I agree with the comment, great way to get to know a new car.

I always take delivery of my cars from the dealer without being detailed or washed. So easy to damage the paint with a poorly skilled detailer.
