Did the bolts all fall out and that is why they came apart? It will be interesting to see if any come apart after loctite is reinstalled and retorqued.

Dont be. There a good company. Just make sure to do what everyone else is saying and will be fine. Im sure by now they are shipping units with the corrective production.

People that buying dss right now should be ok has they corrected the problem a couple months ago unless they buy from a supplier that still have the older version!!. But for the many others that bought it before the correction....scary!

I feel bad for all of you with this problem!

At least when problem arise individually dss seem to have a good customer service and then are taking care of the problem promptly.

However I am going with Ford racing because of this situation!

What is bugging me is that dss is not proactive and is waiting for the failure to occur and deal with it when the problem arise. I think Ford racing half shaft got similar issue cause by e coating of the threads. Once they realise their was a problem seem like they let the people know and even exchange the hafshaft with corrected one. I remember it was impossible to buy their hafshaft for a while until they solve the problem!

You can see that the newer Ford racing version don't have e coating on the spline and external CV housing.

Called DSS and left a message. They never called back. Called again several days later. They said they are not aware of this issue and also told me there was no torque spec for the spindle nut which I found to be untrue later. I never checked the bolts since I wasn't told to. Also shafts came with no install instructions. So I can't say I am impressed. When its time to purchase a drive shaft I will be looking elsewhere.

That sucks; my experience was totally different. If you follow the voice prompts they have some verbage about a warranty department. I followed that talked to TAD and he was super helpful.

Yes me too. I contacted them on the bolts loosening up issue by email. I got a reply the next day. Thing is I bought the shafts from another member not from DSS and they offered to fix inspect and take care of them if I sent them in....THATS CUSTOMER SERVICE! Here is the reply they sent me on the bolts backing out:

What the issue had been is this, We had a few runs of parts that were Ecoated by a local coating company. The coating when done correctly is only supposes to be at the most 3mil thick and not in the threads, what we found (later) was they were actually over coating them and some of it was getting in the thread. This caused the Loctite to be bonding to the Ecoat instead of the metal like most were done (this was a spuratic issue) all that needs to be done is to run a tap in the holes to clean out any of the Ecoat that may or may not be in the set you have. The Tread is 10x1.5 if you like we can have you send them in and we will check the axles for you.

Yeah they never told me about the e-coat or running a tap down them. Just new bolts.

Checked them after 500 miles. They all came loose again!!

This is after removing the old bolts, chasing the threads, and reinstalling the new bolts with red loctite. Torquing to 65 ft lbs.

Asked DSS for a refund or new axles and they pay all shipping.

Unbelievable.
