check fuel fill inlet

so this popped up for the first time on my 2018 mustang gt. have about 80k miles on her. popped up earlier this week then didnt show up again til this morning. anyone have this problem?

Since Mustangs are "capless" fuel fills, using a bright LED light, open fuel door and see if the flap at top of the inlet is damaged or is stuck partially open.

Also, I'm not sure if this would apply, but IIRC I thought some S550's with the security package had locking console lids and fuel doors? If the fuel door is one with an auto lock mechanism, maybe the switch or latch is failing?

But then again the error you stated is specific to the "inlet", so even if the car had an auto lock fuel door, the problem has to be at the filing neck/inlet area.

saw some videos on youtube so i used silicon spray and the fuel adapter that comes with the car to clean in and around the filler neck if that doesnt work then ill take it to do a smoke test

Cleaned mine and it was gone until I had to fill up again now it came back on. Gonna do a smoke test and see what I can find

I get the fuel inlet check every once in a while after I fill up and I also get a P0455 code which I just clear with nGauge and be done with it. I’ll worry about it when emissions comes which hopefully I’ll be out of California or sell it.
