Looking for some help because my Ford Dealership can't seem to figure it out.

Here lately, my stang has had difficulty starting. It takes 2-3 seconds longer to start and sometimes may not start at all. I also get a "check charging system" warning sometimes too. When I get that warning, It also turns my check engine light on for P0300, which is a random misfire code.

The dealership has checked my battery and they think it is working fine. Would this also mean the alternator is fine as well? Car is fine once running.

I have a steeda tune/intake. I thought this could be the problem, but I took both off and returned back to stock and the problem still persists.

Thanks for any help!

I have returned the vehicle to stock with the stock intake and it still does it. I don't believe it's on steeda.

Please keep me updated if you or a dealership figure it out. I'll be sure to let you know as well.

Thanks.

It is very random. Can be hours between or minutes between and it will do it. Then again, sometimes it starts up just fine.

I'd like to add my charging system seems to be working properly, but I have only had the car for a week and the voltage is reading 13.9-14.1 volts most of the time, but there has been a few nights coming home and watched the volt meter drop to 12.8 volts and stay there. I'm going to the dealer next week and will have them check charging system.

No starting problems and no check engine light.

If you have no symptom and no warning lights, there is nothing to worry about. These cars use a system called Smart Charge, it will only charge when the PCM determines it is necessary. Therefore, the voltage will vary between battery voltage (12.6) and 15V depending on conditions.

This morning, after not driving the car for 3-4 days, it started up just fine. Not sure why the randomness of the starting issues. Seems like if this was a battery or alternator, it would do it all the time, not randomly.

Okay, thanks for the info.

Now if you could tell me why the exterior lights turn on whenever I open door or trunk. Is there a way to turn this off?

Courtesy exterior lights used to help find your car at night or make you aware of puddles, may be programmable in IDS not sure.

Just the other day I noticed a reading of 12.1 volt, still normal?

This was from idle to cruising @ 80 mph, stayed like that for quite a while then jumped to 12.7 volt.

It's Smart Charge. The alternator was most likely off at that time to save energy. If you have no error messages, warning lights, or symptoms, then there is nothing to worry about.
