Sorry if this has been asked before.
I currently have a set of 255 40r19 mpss on my stock 8.5 premium painted wheels. I'm looking to get a new set of tires and wanted to go with the new Michelin ps4s, however they don't offer an aspect ratio of 40 in the 19" rim size. I was contemplating dropping down to an aspect ratio of 35 while maintaining the 255 tire width, the problem however is that my car is already lowered with wheel spacers as well, and it occasionally bottoms out depending on the speed bump or road. If I went with the 35 aspect ratio, the tire diameter would drop 1" which concerns me as if I'm thinking correctly, it would bring my vehicle 1" closer to the ground which probably isn't good so my question is this, can I get a 265 35r19 on an 8.5" wheel to prevent the diameter of the tire itself dropping a full inch?

Thanks for the help and suggestions,
Brant

If the diameter of the tire decreases by 1", it will bring your car 1/2" lower to the ground and add 1/2" to the wheel gap. I didn't check your math, so I'm just going off what you posted.

Bear with me here.
I'm running 20" 275/295 35 series tyres on my aftermarket rims. Looks great.
For drag strip use, I run a 275/35/19 on the OEM rear wheels. It looks friggin ridiculous.
Way too much wheel gap.
Not saying you can't do it, just be aware that it might look crap.

i don't particularly have much wheel gap now so i'm not sure how much it would add.

Maybe going with the Super sports is what i'll have to do then.

255/35 is a bit short 1/2" more wheel gap, 1/2" lower to the ground, and 1" too short overall diameter).

I'd look at a different tire which does come in the correct 255/40 size (like the Conti ExtremeContact Sport), if you're set on keeping those wheels.

Honestly tho, the 8.5" wheels are holding you back. With 10" wide wheels you could run the 285/35 MP4S.
