Hey guys,

I have a question I was hoping y'all can help me with. I have a GT with Performance Package, and I'm wondering what the effects would be if I used a tire with a larger aspect ratio (255/45 and 275/45 instead of 255/40 and 275/40).

The reason I ask is I was checking prices for winter tires, and the larger tires are half the price. I have stock PP suspension, so I assume they will fit with no problems.

I assume difference in the spedometer reading will be negligible? Will it have any side effects on the TPMS sensors (like constant warnings for tire pressure being too high)? Anything else I need to be aware of?

I'm sorry if this sounds like a newby question, but I don't know much about tires (and I couldn't find much searching the forums).

Thanks everyone.

Only real side effect of a bigger tire diameter is that you'll be travelling faster than what your speedometer indicates. Not a huge deal if you know about it and can account for it.

Use this site and plug in your tire sizes to figure out your indicated and actual speeds.

Going from 275/40/19 to 275/45/19, you'll be travelling 67.5 mph when your speedo says 65.
