It's better than open, but I still opted for an almost invisible plug, and a miniature USB music stick inside the center console. I opted for the 12V-to-USB adapter so the car doesn't want to connect to Apple CarPlay every time. But didn't want to disable it, in case I ever need it (Waze, etc), so my set-up works perfectly for my needs :).

I was just about to post the Aliexpress link. It is indeed the exact same device for a quarter of the price.

I like the idea, but the end product looks terrible tbh.

I agree, it looks like a desk top printer stuck out of the dash ... :puke:

Wtf phone is in the picture? My S20 is too large to sit in that change tray, and newer iphones aren't much smaller.

I have a Note 10, and I put mine in there. With the cable hooked up it actually sits on and angle, and doesn't move. Have had zero issues keeping it in there.

Anyone figured out a nice way to mount a phone in there ? Then we wouldn’t need the exit for the sync cable / USB :like:

I don't really see why it would need to be mounted, just stick it in there[?] Toss in a microfiber towel for some cushioning :)

I use the front port, 4" Amazon Basics, gray lightning cable, IPX sits in the tray just fine (not all the way flush, but that's zero issue), I use a fairly minimal case, nice rubber bumper, it doesn't move. I'm on CP 99% of the time, so one connection and I've got my media __and__ my device is charging. Simple.

My wife bought an organizer that fits between your hip and the console for her Explorer, it holds a Cell phone and other things and the charger port in the console can be used to charge the phone....
