Just a side note on inspections. Majority of catted headers don’t actually pass emissions. If it’s an eye ball test then your good. Also if a shop wants to be a stickler any modification to the emissions system is a fail.
Having cats and not passing emissions would be a kick in the balls.

It's sadly the reality of it. :rain: Kooks green cats are going to be the about closest you'll come but it's not a guarantee.
I can see it happening in states such as Cali. But I wonder just how strict NY is.

If they do a sniff test it doesn't matter the state honestly. but if they do an OBD port test it sees if you have any codes and if its none you move on with life unless the shop wants to call you out for aftermarket headers/cats.

We can't even ship headers to Cali anymore. It's tough for them. And the green cats are pretty much designed around being able to pass the OBDII test rather than the sniff.

Do both the high flow and the green cats at least cut the smell so it is like factory odor?

20 for me with gutted felines.. 2/10ths at the track with ZERO other changes.
Same 60', and same DA and 2/10ths slower? Obviously those need to be considered to make an apples to apples comparison. What was the DA and trap speed for both runs?

Well dunno what the DA was. But it was hotter & a little more humid than the previous weeks run. 60 picked up with the same 3000 rpm launch, MPH from 119 to 121. I call that 20 hp.

119 to 121 mph with similar or worse DA, good enough for me!

Mustang6g has conflicting information. People recommend cat deletes only because thats what gains the power and easier install than catless longtubes. Then recommend that people install catted longtubes because the power difference isnt that much :cwl::cwl:

One thing to keep in mind. If your considering going to boost down the road. You’ll want to go catless.

I think it’s because the factory cats are more restricted than the after market

I am going to respond to this thread
Does anyone have any technical or engineering knowledge that the high flow or green cats do anywhere near as well as the stock cats at removing pollutants?

The issue is on startup, if you notice on the OEM header and cat assembly the large cat is in fact 2 bricks in one can. Here is a photo of what I am talking about. You will notice the rear 02 sensor is in the middle of the cat assembly. Not behind it. The front cat is used for a quick lightoff so it will start to scrub the exhaust as it is right after the header and will come to temp quickly. The cat behind the rear 02 sensor is there for additional scrub.

That being said as far as passing emissions is going to depend on where you live. A lot of states are going to the Cali arrangement of the California Air Resources Board or C.A.R.B. In Cali the only way a header arrangement will pass is with no software and they don't bother looking under the car and you have cats that will keep the cat inefficiency code from popping up. If you have aftermarket software that even keeps the emissions intact in Cali you still won't pass as the test sights software will notice that the softwares check sum won't add up and it will know that there is software installed on the car. That is why on FRPP Powerpacks there is a CARB EO# because it installs new software.

As to catted or no cats I don't think that headers are even worth it to begin with. You buy the car new here in Cali you don't have to smog the car for the first 8 years. Once you sell the car though you have to smog it regardless as that person won't be able to register it. If I was going down this route it would be with MAK cat delete that can be unbolted and changed out easily when it comes time for smogging and reinstall the OEM software.
