Catback exhaust turbo spool

Those of you with a catback system. Can you hear the turbo spool? Is a downpipe required to get the spool sound? Thanks!!

It was the CAI that made the most difference to turbo noise. The catback provides a nice deep exhaust note.

Turbo back exhaust with no CAT will probably give away more turbo sound from the exhaust.

Yeah, catless downpipe will make it whistle all day. I run a 3" catless dp and a flowmaster outlaw catback. Its super loud and all you hear at idle is the turbo whistling.
