So I am still trying to find an exhaust set up I like. As of now I have the tsp headers, magna x pipe and roush ab. The x pipe made things way too quiet but without it the system is way too loud. The headers have to stay and deleting the mufflers is the no go since the drone is insane.

My question is what difference would the "high flow cats" make when it comes to sound. When I ran this system with the h pipe it was insanely loud but I installed the x pipe before I installed the cats so there is no way to tell without swapping back on the h pipe which I do not want to do if I am having to change it back out yet again. I find it hard to believe that the headers added such an insane amount of sound because of the better flowing pipes rather than removing the cats altogether.

Also I assume I can just email lund and have the cold start disabled or is it hidden away on the ngauge?

Most of the sound from headers does come from removing the cats, but even putting in high flow cats won't quiet it down as much since they are alot smaller and less restrictive than the OEM cats.

Adding high flow cats to an LT system will tone it down a little bit but mainly smooth it out and kill some of the rasp.

I don't believe high-flow cats will make that big of a difference on the decibel meter. A little quieter at most, but negligible. I have LTHs and high-flows and it's still obnoxious. One of my coworkers has said he could hear me from inside our building going up the street about half a mile away.

You can't turn down the high idle cold start using a tuning device. That part is written in the tune itself. Basically, it idles high for a second or two then drops down. It still has the initial bark, but nothing dragged out like a regular cold start.

Ahh I see even a second or two would be too much if I went back to my H pipe (I leave for work at 10pm at night). I guess I will stick with what I have if the cats are not going to make much of a difference. Thank you guys.

Another one to confirm the high flow cats will not do it. I added high flow cats to my Mak cat deletes on my 15 and it did nearly nothing to quiet things down. Ended up changing my Stainless works catback out for an MBRP Street to tone things down. Almost no sound level change from cat deletes to Long tubes so its not the tubing, it is definitely the stock cats that kill sound. On my 18 I too went with a magnaflow resonated xpipe and that has made it quiet enough with the cat deletes (not doing longtubes this time) under most circumstances. Cold start up has that loud bark but it does become tolerable after 20 seconds or so with my Lund tune. I asked them to make cold start up as quiet as possible but I'm not sure if it really did much. I just leave my neighborhood as quickly as possible in the early morning. I could care less after 9-10am on the weekend. Lol
