In the greater Houston area. Anyone know of a shop that can handle, protect, and cover removing the R stock wheels? Separating wheel and tire using state of the art equipment and machinery? Hunter touch less tire changer perhaps. Everyone I have called so far does not want to touch them.

thanks

Jump on the Hunter website. They have a dealer locator where you can filter by shops with specific equipment. In your case, probably the Hunter Revolution “touchless” mounting machine.

That’s what I did. They have the Road Force Balancers and Elite, and the Revolution Tire changer and they all say no. Unless I’m missing something on their website.

Wow, sorry… that had always worked for me in the past with pricey forged wheels and expensive tires… but I’ll admit they weren’t carbon fiber…whole next level lol. :)

Is there a Ford dealer local to you that you trust? Ive got to think there’s at least a few in Houston that have the proper equipment to handle the CF wheels.

@Houston Kid has a CFTP, maybe he knows of a few shops as well

My dealership is pretty big and I don't think we have anything special for the carbon fiber wheels. Ill have to ask an advisor to see if we even do it. Would be interesting especially if they do and just have a normal tech use our normal tire machine.

I'll try these local Ford dealerships. I'll see what they say. These dealerships are a bunch of weasels.

Good luck! I’ve had good luck with 2 local dealerships, I’ve gotten to know the service manager pretty well as well as the Mustang techs. I bring the service crew donuts or pizza every time I go in for an oil change and they’ll typically let me observe if I want to. I just have a lowly GT (for now) but I’ve found if I treat them well, they treat me and my car well.

I believe @Tomster takes a similar approach and also has his dealer work with his CF wheels and tires.

Yes, Ford techs are paid by the job, not by the hour. If the job prescribes .5 hours and the tech takes an hour to get it done, then the tech loses out. This is typically the reason why they haul ass through a job to get it done and out the door.

I take care of my tech with a generous tip with the promise and understanding that he will take his time and be very careful with my wheels.

I recall an instance where my yellow R went in and it got handed off to any 'ol tech, who did exactly as described above and wound up damaging the wheel. I wound up sending it off to spyder in CA for repair. I ate the cost of the repair.

These days I repair my own wheels.

How much of a bribe did you give him? I want to see how much it takes to get things right.
