Carbon Fiber Weight reduction

I want to put my GT350 on a diet with carbon fiber.

Carbon fiber 1 piece driveshaft
Carbon fiber Recaro seats
Carbon fiber front and rear rotors
Rear seat delete
Full length headers
Off road exhaust
High flow CAI
Tune
Rear irs solid cradle and diff bushings
Custom aluminum solid motor mounts
Light weight battery

I wish ford made more of the suspension parts from aluminum instead of steel/iron. All the talk about reducing weight especially on the R with the AC, radio, rear seat, delete they could of taken it a step further and made the suspension parts from aluminum. Including the front K-member.

Carbon fiber hood/trunk/roof. Plexi glass windows. Carbon fiber door panels. Actually just remove them. Carbon fiber iPhone cable. Carbon fiber shirt and shoes should help too.

They are a good idea for me and my other mustang. I don't care about noise. Watson makes them in steel but I made them from aluminum.

The Voodoo vibrates a lot more than your other Mustang. There are dampers all over the whole driveline.

I'd definitely wait it out for 6-12 months to see if there are any reports of vibration related issues with the stock components.

I would have liked to see the steel suspension subframes changed to aluminum. I think the issue is that those components, along with the other suspension pieces, are so integral to the chassis that it was difficult for Ford to switch those out without taking a hit to the price.

Would be interested to see what could be done with those though. The ones on my 350Z are aluminum, and are pretty large to handle the loads, so it might also be a packaging issue.

Alumninum Kirky seats are very light and would save money. Probably 15-20lbs each with pad and bracket.

Light weight materials cost a lot of money. I think Ford got it right by keeping the car affordable. They could have made the car significantly lighter but it would cost much more. It is a track focused car but most of us are not going to race the car for a living where we need the car to be so much lighter to shave off hundredths of a second on times. To me the Shelby GT350 is a sports car that is on a pony car budget. Why buy one and then spend 10's of thousands of dollars to make it lighter just for a few bragging rights at an amateur track event?

I understand and agree with you, but carbon fiber wheels are not cheap either. They made the front steering knuckles from aluminum instead of steel as are on the Gt and lesser mustangs. It just would of been nice to include more aluminum elsewhere. I'm not complaining. I plan on racing my gt350 both road and 1/4 mile. So every little bit helps. I'm not going as far as tearing out the interior panels or carpet etc. so I'll make savings where I can.

Rear seat delete, wheels, and resonator delete are good starts for me. Call all that 50lbs maybe. I don't need much more. For people doing weight reduction though, look at ways to remove weight furthest away from the center of the car. Like doors. Who needs those?
