So I dove the car 80 miles to work. Get off 12 hours later, hop in, and the car cranks over but will not start? Pop the hood look around don't see anything. I try to start it six more times unsuccessfully. My dad was down that way with a friend of his, so at least i have a ride home. Dad pops open the gas cap, closes it, then opens the hood looks around. His friend hops in and it cranks right up, after jokingly saying that he would. So what could be the issue?

sounds like an issue that the ford dealership should take care of tbh

I had the same issue. One thing I noticed when it happened to me is the start button on mine was blinking green when it did it instead of solid green. It has only done it once in the 1400 miles I have driven but I was very worried.

Do you recall if your start button was blinking green? For me I shut it off then turned it back on and it started fine.

I had something similar happen in a 370z, the quick fix was to disconnect the battery cable and re-set the system.

That happened to me many times on my Genesis Coupe with the push start button. The issue was the brake switch. If the brake switch is defective it will get stuck on the off position so when you press the brakes, the car won't turn on (there will be no brake light). That was why the start button was blinking as if the brake was never pressed until it worked again. It was very random on my GC until they fix the brake switch (or clutch switch in the case of a manual transmission). Problem solved. This may not be the same case but is a very similar behavior.

Sorry I don't have any more relevant information, but if the engine isn't running the warning lights will be on as a bulb test.

Your dad's friend just had the magic touch, huh? :headbonk:

Let me know if you have this experience again or if you decide to speak with your dealer about it. I'll need your VIN, current mileage, servicing dealer info, full name, and contact number to see how to best assist.

I'm glad to see your Mustang started right back up, w0ss, and that you haven't experienced it again. If you do, let me know. Just send me a PM with the above requested info.
