Bought an issue of the latest Car and Driver mag with a C7 and a GT350 on the cover. It's like the editors were neutered - zero passion in their writing and such weak journalism. Want my 6 dollars back.

Yeah they said the grand sport engine is more like a truck engine because it red lines @ 6500.

They are not the only publication that have made the truck engine reference. I tend to agree.

I think they said that only in comparison with the 5.2.

Standing alone the LT1 has been almost universally praised.
So any engine that doesn't rev to 8250 is a truck engine. just nonsense. But good for the rivalry .

I've had both and they are very different engines. The LT1 pulls hard all the way to 6500. The Voodoo does not to start to build power until ~3500 RPM.

I think the direct injection will be a long term issue due to carbon deposits but I was able to squeeze 696 RWHP on a stock long block. I think the cast OPG in the GT350 might be a longer term problem as well.

The LT1 does not feel like a truck motor to me but I'm sure with the right gearing it could and will be a stump puller. I loved the LT1 engine but never liked the exhaust note on the LSx or LTx. The GT350, and any V8 Mustang sounds more like a muscle car to me. I read it is due to the firing order but was always too tame even with NPP (Exhaust Bypass) and long tube headers. The fun part about my last car was I went with the "loud" BOV and at 2000 rpm, light throttle, and the noise was ungodly.

Audi combines DI with port injection and has solved the carbon build up. I've heard ford Is going that route. I owned a 16 SS with dual mode exhaust and it was louder then my 15 corvette Z51 with standard dual mode exhaust. Maybe it was the different headers the SS has. The SS sounded better then the Vette with the same engine.

I agree with the truck-like feel of the LT1. It's still pretty amazing, but the high RPM torque drop was noticeable to me.

Just got this issue in the mail. Didn't read it fully, but glanced through it and thought it was somewhat interesting. It was pretty clinical in explaining what was good and bad about both cars, and I can see that the passion for both wasn't really there.
